Next topic of discussion: Management of Common Cold

(Sneezing, runny nose, blocked nose, nasal allergy, burning/irritation in nose, sinusitis, DNS, etc.)

17882: Common Cold (Pratiśyāya)

 Concept:

Nidāna like cold exposure, dust, cold/heavy food → Kapha vitiation with Vāta anubandha → Kapha sthāna sañcaya in Nāsa & Śira (Urdhvajatrugata region) → obstruction of Prāṇavaha srotas → Pratiśyāya.

Key Symptoms:

• Frequent sneezing

• Nasal discharge or blockage

• Heaviness of head

• Mild headache

• Cough, throat irritation

• Reduced appetite (Mandāgni)

Effective Panchakarma Management:

• Dīpana–Pācana to correct Agni

• Mild Abhyanga + Swedana to liquefy Kapha

• Nasya (Anu taila / Shadbindu taila) – treatment of choice

• Dhoomapāna & warm Kavala/Gandūṣa for residual Kapha

• Vamana only in chronic, recurrent Kapha-pradhāna cases (seasonal & selective)

 Result :

Clears Kapha from root

Relieves nasal & head symptoms

Prevents recurrence

Improves respiratory immunity
