Ayucafe- Live chat Topic for
discussion: Dental Care- Ayurveda
Ayulink Ayurveda: Lets start with basic concept of
dincharya and dental care
Dr Anshul Bahl: What is best?
Tooth
powder or tooth paste?
Ayulink Ayurveda: Good question: according to basic
ayurveda there was only powder base was used.
19 16: Tooth powder
***********************************************
Ayulink offers

We recommend enjoying our “Facial”

***********************************************
Dr Anshul Bahl: So what is the best?
Tooth
powder or datun if we compare both?
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: Datun - Aacharya mentioned
Vd. Pritam Bharat Veer: Nimb stem. Amruta stem used for the
dental cleaning. Dantamanjan also good.
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: Tikt रस तो बे used for dant dhawan. Tikt शोधणे
Ayulink Ayurveda: Paste base is mostly prepared from: hydrated silica (softened silica), calcium
carbonate (also known as chalk), and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Other
abrasives include dibasic calcium phosphate, calcium sulfate, tricalcium
phosphate, and sodium metaphosphate hydrated alumina.
18 10: Which is better for children?
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: Datun
- exercise of teeth, gums
Dr Anshul Bahl: And which type gandusha and kavhal help
in strengthing gums and teeths?
Til
oil rarely does work here due to impurities present in today's market ( There's
only 49% extract of til present in til
oil, rest is palm) So what should we do now?
Which
gandusha is best than tila tail and other tail?
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: Can we use sweet RAS for children as
per शुशृत
Ayulink Ayurveda: In south palm is used to produce til
oil. In Gujarat they dont use it
Dr. Manjusha: can we use clove oil for gandhush 2
to 3 droops in water for children to
avoid cavity n bad smell
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: अरिमेदस तैल for ganduah
Ayulink Ayurveda: sneh dravyas are always more helpful -
ghee is better if oil is not used. Milk is also good
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana:
Bitter - Neem
Astrigent
- Khadir
Pungent
-:Karnja
Sweet
- Mahudo
Best
for Dhantadhavan
Ayulink Ayurveda: prepare medicated milk for gandush
Dr Dharaji: Can't
we use manjan with til oil
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: Does gandush mean only to wash..??
Dr Dharaji: Irimedadi worked in Cavity and
sensitivity
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: In shushrut also reference (Maybe we
compared with toothapaste/ tooth powder):
Honey,
Ginger, Black pepper, pepper longum, Cinnamon leaf& bark, Ela, oil &
Sandhava - use with datun
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: There is route of administration of
drugs .. sublingual.. so any ganduah द्रव्य may get absorb. That's why paste is
dangerous....
Ayulink Ayurveda: dental care requires more then one
processes: cleaning, shinning, fight tooth decay, and making gums strong etc.
So
datun - brush, gargle and local massage on gums etc are important processes.
Only with any one process, dental care can not be complete.
Modern
toothpaste ingredients:
Fluoride:
This mineral is key to fighting tooth decay.Glycerol: This ingredient keeps
toothpaste from drying out, gives it a consistent texture and helps it glide
smoothly from the tube.Sorbitol: it’s a
sweetening agentCalcium carbonate: It helps remove plaque, debris and surface
stains.Sodium lauryl sulfate: This ingredient is a detergent, creating a bubbly
foam like in soap and shampoo
Ayulink Ayurveda: mostly yes, gandush - kawal are also
good to make teeth and gums strong
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: Not allowed Datun:
-
Throat disease
-
Lips,Tounge& Tooth disease
-
Mouth ulcer
-
Shawas, Kasa, Hikka
-
Ajirna , Durbala rogi
-
Syncope
-
Headache
-
Thirsty
-
Aardit
-
Ear ache
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: Food particle remaining more than 20
min..on/ between teeth can start proces of making cavity with producing lactic
acid. If it continues for some months then it goes into cavity
19 15: Agree.. Only One thing is not enough. As a
practicing dentist I can say that there is no alternative to toothbrush. You
can use any toothpaste of your own choice but brush twice a day is compulsory..
Datun has added advantages as it contains natural antibacterial chlorophyll.
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: So brushing/cleaning after food is good
with gargles
Dr. Nancy Patel: How shall we make ayurvedic product
that provides all benefits cleaning strength fighting decay
Ayulink Ayurveda: datun was serving several purposes :
first
we need to chew it and make it soft - the juice comes out of datun is good as
anti-biotic or anti germs
Second
when you chew enough and make it like brush - it helps to clean teeth from
surface and also from the tiny spaces between the teeth
Lastly
after you complete chewing - brushing, we can use it as tongue cleaner.
19 15: Brush + Rinse + Floss + regular dental check up
to maintain oral health..
Ayulink Ayurveda: *Home made Toothpaste*
Toothpaste
with baking soda and coconut oil
Add two tablespoon baking soda
Add two tablespoon of coconut oil
Add ten drops of essential oil
Mix
all the ingredients well to get a smooth texture. This preparation forms basic
toothpaste; however, to prepare whitening toothpaste, whitening ingredients (e.g.
turmeric) must be added in minute proportions. Also, the proportion of abrasive
agents (e.g. baking soda or diatomaceous earth) must be kept low to prevent
tooth enamel damage.
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi : Tikta kashay रस is best for cleaning
Ayulink Ayurveda: commercial products dont have
tikta-kashay ras...they are sweet to attract more and more people, specifically
children
19 15: Regular check up without any problem is only 5%
amongst Indian people which is the major issue..people are interested in the
treatments and not in the prevention
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: It is there for every disease
Dr. Nancy Patel: How can we treat cavities and
toothaches
Ayulink Ayurveda: I think for cavities we need to promote
teeth and gum massage
19 15: Filling is mandatory for decayed
tooth/cavity
Ayulink Ayurveda: Massage with oil + herbs are good
Tab
G32 (Alarsin Pharma) is in the market from aprox 50-60 years .....it is for
massage, not to swallow
at
some level when RCT (Root canal treatment) is recommanded, what can we do?
15: Enamel making cells are lost once the tooth
enters into oral cavity. So regeneration like bone is not possible. That makes
necessary to use artificial materials to fill the cavity
Vd. Hardik bhatt: IS IT NECESSARY TO BRUSH AT NIGHT..?
Ayulink Ayurveda: your choice..
19 15: RCT can save your tooth if you have
painful tooth
Ayulink Ayurveda: modern marketing...double time
use...product will sell double time
Vd. Hardik bhatt: ok sir
Ayulink Ayurveda: acharya has not indicated 2 time use of
tooth cleaning
Vd. Hardik bhatt: I want to ask only that.
Ayulink Ayurveda: plus neem, turmeric, khadir were
efficient to work for 24 hours......modern anti germ are not that powerful in
small quantity
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: Does massage with powder causes weak
enamel
19 15: Compulsory as the stagnant food particles are
fermented by bacteria and produce acid which causes de mineralization of tooth.
Also saliva is not produced overnight to wash and buffer the acids
Ayulink Ayurveda: that was again a myth spread by modern
companies...when they entered in to Indian market 50-60 years back, they preach
not to use salt or coal powders to clean teeth. Now everybody knows they have
toothpaste with coal powder and salt
Vd. Hardik bhatt: there is local quote that dant ne na
dekhadvi sali... means do not clean teeth with toothpick... is there any
reason..?
2815: It's required as it's important to prevent
bacterial colonization in the dental plaque
Ayulink Ayurveda: yes..I agree. But the bacterial growth
if controlled by neem etc herbs are powerful then modern toothpaste, I assume.
Vd. Jayesh Thakkar: Some ppl complain of Yellow tinge and
strain in tooth despite cleansing nor taking tobacco, etc then what can be
cause of yellow teeth
019 15: Yes. As charcoal and powders are over
abrasive.. Grind the teeth in long run. The companies use very fine grinded
power of salt or charcoal
Ayulink Ayurveda: Modern checmicals does have some
limitations....thats why we need cleaning twice. plus good habits like after
meals, gargle also helps us for cleanig and stop bacterial growth. In west they
dont have habit of gargling after meals.
Dr. Nancy Patel: Any effective ayu brand selling
toothpaste with all these drugs as ingredients
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: Where is our babul...
Famous
drug... nobody mention
Dr. Nancy Patel: Sometimes the natural color of teeth is
a bit yellowish i think
Ayulink Ayurveda: People are selling anything in the name
of ayurveda. We all know that how much ayurveda is there in commercial ayurveda
products
19 15: Only Scaling can remove this.. No tooth paste
or brush will help
Ayulink Ayurveda: what about stains? stains of tea-coffe
or tobacco?
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: Share video of ideal way of brushing
Ayulink Ayurveda: has anybody use "Mukta chamak"
product? they claim for stein remove in 2-3 uses.
How
long we have to brush? any suggestion?
modern
science says it for 2 minutes.
any
ayurvedic concept?
same
with gargle (Gandush or kawal) - How long we have to make it?
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: Recommended Way of brushing:
Not
harmful Gums
Every
teeth cleaning
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi : Basics....
Use
strong like hard thing to eat....that produces strong teeth...as it works for
exercise for them
28/09/19,
4:47 pm - Dr. Mig Fran. Inq. Dr. dhananjay Bairagi Nasik: Does अस्थिसार person hav strong teeth...does anybody
notice?
Ayulink Ayurveda: Very difficult question, Sir
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: Eight disease of tooth:
Dalan
Krumidanta
Dantaharsha
Bhanjanak
Sharkara
Kapalika
Shyavdanta
Hanumoksha
Ayulink Ayurveda: Anybody in this chat today, who knows or
practice ayurveda dentistry?
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: I know...he uses panchbhoutik chikista
in dentistry
19 15: No idea about ayurveda Dentistry
Ayulink Ayurveda: There was a "1 year PG Course in
Dentistry" run by an institue in Ratanpar village, Near Rajkot.
which
was approved by Gujarat Ayurveda University, jamnagar
where
they teach Jalandhar bandh technique for tooth extraction, without bleeding,
without pain
Dr. Manshukh Mangakiya: If anybody want to learn dentistry in
ayurveda. Contact dr jaysukhbhai
Makwana ( Rajkot )
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: Saliva....acid or alkali??
Ayulink Ayurveda: Yes, the course is still there...but now
only for 36 hours. http://www.ayurveduniversity.edu.in/submain/60.pdf
Dr. dhananjay Bairagi: And if it is more acidic or more
alkaline ...does it produces tooth decay
Ayulink Ayurveda: I think it is alkaline
