Next topic for discussion:  Moyamoya disease interpretation in Ayurveda
Ayulink International:
Definition: Moyamoya disease is a rare, progressive cerebrovascular disorder caused by blocked arteries at the base of the brain in an area called the basal ganglia. The name “moyamoya” means “puff of smoke” in Japanese and describes the look of the tangle of tiny vessels formed to compensate for the blockage.

Gary Yuen: Looking at studies, seems many sufferers are obese, have hypertension, high cholesrerol, etc. Blocked arteries of any kind i think only happen in such cases?
Does ayurveda describe symptoms of such things like eating too many aninal produxts? Charak attributes prameha with one cause of consuming domesticated animals so there's an awareness of excess. Possibly other things can be compared.
Ayulink International:  Actually I could not find any such description in the books. May be it is from Majja dhatu disturbance
came across one young female patient of approx 21 year , first time in my practice. So I took this chance to share with all of you. I know this is not very common condition and we don't have more number of patients if this condition. But let's share our thoughts - ideas and hypothesis here.
It's just like any other neuro muscular diseases in first look. But when patient told me that she is having diagnosis of Moya Moya diseases, I was clueless. I took time to suggest anything to patient. That's why I wish to have ideas and comments from all of you. Google can give several information about this. But what about treatment?
Gary Yuen:  Can you describe her physical features and habits? Overweight excess kapha diet of excess milk meat fish eggs cheese ghee etc? Descriptions of the condition suggest hypertension or someone with habits leading to it and possibly an auroimmune condition.
I would guess correct treatment of kapha and one should see at least a minor change within a few weeks. Anyone with excess kapha will eventually have some condition. It is not possible to be healthy and overweight.
Ayulink International:  I would suggest all of interested friends to read about this condition :
Gary Yuen:  Studies on pubmed have more info. There was something about change in spine, spaces between bones narrowing. Other factors maybe cause that.
A few studies so far link hypertension with i think it was 30%+ cases. Other things make me think it affects mainly those with excess kapha. That doesn't mean it's the cause but one factor of several.
Describing the patient would help verify.
Likely a recent new condition. Could mean that it isn't genetic but is due to some external factor in east Asia. Nuclear radiation, unique pollution from China sea, etc.
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana:
Symptoms
Moyamoya disease may occur at any age, though symptoms most commonly occur between 5 and 10 years of age in children and between 30 and 50 years of age in adults.
The first symptom of moyamoya disease is usually stroke or recurrent transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), especially in children. Adults may also experience these symptoms but more often experience bleeding in the brain (hemorrhagic stroke) from abnormal brain vessels.
Accompanying signs and symptoms of moyamoya disease related to reduced blood flow to the brain include:
-         Headache
-         Seizures
-         Weakness, numbness or paralysis in your face, arm or leg, typically on one side of your body
-         Visual disturbances
-         Difficulties with speaking or understanding others (aphasia)
-         Developmental delays
-         Involuntary movements
-         Cognitive decline

Ayulink Ayurveda: yes, dadima is good for atisara. kutaja in basti form is fast and effective - but always needs to take extra care...In high dose of kutaj, it can create complications. Grahi basti or sangrahi basti are there for atisara. good suggestions
Vd. Ekta D. Patel: in summer due to heat the drav& sar guna of pitta is increase & as well as agni is decrease & pitta get adhisthana in pakvashaya & so atisara is happning
