Next topic of discussion :- Management of #muscular pain with #ayurveda
Ayulink: We are discussing ACUTE MUSCULAR PAIN - of any origin. We are trying to find out any alternate of modern painkillers or NSAIDS. In chronic condition, we will discuss about different pain and its management at length at moment, please focus on ACUTE condition.  (Please remember, there is no 100% Pain management possible in the world......In chronic conditions, patient would like to find out more SAFE, CHEAPER, FASTER options and then they come to Ayurveda......but still in acute condition, very few would believe in ayurveda and consult an ayurveda doctor. Today's point of discussion is more focused on that aspect. By chance an ayurveda doctor gets an patient with acute muscular pain, what will be his options? Thnx).
Vd. Sandeep J. Prasad: Local snehan and swedan is very effective in muscular pain. Vat shamak kwath likes rasna saptak kwath, Dashmool kwath internally.
Dr. Sushant Patil: Yogaraj Guggul is also useful with ashwagandha kwath in muscle pain.
Dr. Sachinkumar Jinture: Erandmul best Use in swedan.
Anand Javeri: Physiotherapy helps to a great extent. Plus, one should consume lots of water & remain well hydrated. Should consume foods rich in magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, protein, calcium and iron. Also amino acids.
Dr.Prashant Pawar  Nasik: Til tail for local snehan, swedan with dashmul . Til tail matrabasti. Mahawatvidhwansa rasa 2-2,Yograj guggul 2-2.
Vd. Kundan Gadhavi: Nirgundi patra pinda sweda.
Dr. Bhadresh Naik: Try to understand the basic of muscular pain. Differential diagnosis first then according to problems give suggestions. Many times we do mistake that any pain related to vat but it's complex with cough pitta Angeles neurological and fibromyalgia - Spinal disorders. Non medicoes without understand please don't apply otherwise it's produced compliance.
Vd. Sandeep J. Prasad: In ayurveda where pain is there it means vata is there it may be kapha and pitaanuband. But primary treatment will be vat samak.
Dr. Bhadresh Naik: I agree but vatshamak does not increase Pitta or kapha and neurological pain we have to think different. Comparison must be relieved.
Vd.manasi Kulkarni: Muscle Pain- Sanehana, Swedana, Dashmularistam, Mahayograja Guggulu, Matrabasti, Agnikarma.
Dr. Bhadresh Naik: Santtarpan and aptarpan must be considered in line of treatment.
Dr. Neha P. Bhatt: Agnikarma can give instant relief!
Vd. Avni Kaneria: Nirgundi patra-pind swed or locally nadi swed is effective..
Dr. J. T. Contractor: Well there could be serum uric acid as well, a pt complaining about acute pain in muscles, did no stone left unturned as far any paths concerned, was suggested colchicine Chinese herb (chop chini) in a week's time pt found complete relief, then was asked to monitor serum uric acid time to time with a note to avoid non veg food, fatty oils & heavy to digest pulses, so far pt did not require Zyloric ( xyloric).
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: Actually in acute condition, we dont have time / habit of thinking of samprapti. In such condition we need to treat it as soon as possible and get rid of lakshana. So lakshanik chikitsa is applied in general. waiting for very exciting knowledge from you.. Thnx.
Vd. Gurumahantesh: In muscular pain I use karaskara lepa followed by infrared light therapy, it gives quick results within 3 days.
Vd. Kundan Gadhavi: karaskar lepa from which pharmacy?
Vd. Gurumahantesh: Not available from any pharmacy. Ref sahasra yoga.
Ayulink: - Vd. Bhvaesh Modh:
It is unquestionable truth that Dashmula preparation is best for “Shulprashman”, there are many market preparations of Dashmula available, but how many of them prepared according to the standards set by pharmacopoeia is still questionable.
Basti of Dashmul Kwath is best for all kinds of ‘Shotha’ & ‘Shula’.
The next available herb is Guggulu. - Sinhnad, Rasanadi etc are guggulu preparations readily available in market, but again Quality and Quantity of ingredients, in terms of reliability of source, is questionable as in Dashmula.
It’s prescribed in “sabarkantha ni vanaspati”, written by Raj vaidya shree Rasiklal Jethalal Parikh, to consume guggulu (in naturally available raw form) with warm water and results of this experiment are extraordinary/miraculous.
Guggulu is gum or exudates derived from Neem, Baval, Kher/Khadir, Shallaki, Dhav kind of trees.
Many householders use gum collected from wild Babul & Kher trees, without any purification process, in various feast winter recipes. However, it never caused any side-effect on a human body so far.
Shallaki is widely marketed as a good Shul eradicator.
Dashmul preparation and Guggulu - if are well checked and trustworthy, than it can be used for Kwatha preparation or Basti treatment or for internal use.
Vd. Bhavesh Thakkar: Bala tail internally and externally is excellent vata shamana hence has immediate pain killing effect. So is erand sneha also sunthi can combined with eranda. Guggulu in large quantity gives excellent shula prashamana effect. I make Guggulu preparations on my own and use 1gm dose. 2 or 3 times in a day.  I use my own make of simhanada guglu which is excellent in both shula and sotha prashamana.
Dr. Jaya Sambhus: Aacharya charak mentioned angamard prashaman gana . I always use this gana with dashmool internally  n local application of lepa containing vacha kosth devadar gairik guggul
Shri Minoo parabia: Guggulu is oleoresin from Commiphora wightii. Others are  gums.Gum is a degradation product of cellulose, produced only when a plant is injured. Does work as potent pain reliever.
Dr. Jaya Sambhus: Best n instant pain reliever is viddh karma . It helps for 2-3 hours only but faster. Next is agnikarma which is faster n permanent also But pts. dislike this procedure.
Dr. Dilip Pithiya: Snehan with Vatshamak oil like Nirgundi Tail, mahanarayan tail , Mash tail, Bala tail, Tila tail, Lasun Siddh Tail etc.. Swedan with Nadi Swed. Snehan + Swedan Gives good result.
Vd. Khyati Jariwala: Chadraprabhavati 2 TDS is effective in muscular pain.
Anand Javeri: what kind of muscular pain does chandraprabhavati help?
Dr. Madhuri Patil Chaudhari: i think, if pain is due to Dhatushaithilya janya, esp. post partum, chadraprabha v. being dhatusanghatkar, works. no acute relief but over a period of time.
Dr. Rinku Shah: Nagod+Sallaki works excellent on acute pain. Dashmool steam is also good for pain relivered abhyang with Mahanarayan tailam
Ayulink: Let's share now management of chronic Muscular pain. (no other kind of pain please. Pain in Snayu or mamsa, muscle-ligaments only. For pain in joint and other origin, we will discuss later.)
Anand Javeri: Before 2 years, i came to know 1 thing. Wrap carom seeds in a cloth, keep it in a vessel and put the vessel on stove. When the vessel becomes hot, put off the stove. Immediately, remove carom seeds from the cloth & dab the cloth on the ailing area. It gives relief. does this really work? Haven't ever tried. Just heard about it.
Exi Kir Moo: Muscular happens mainly due to muscle pull or stress or injury to muscle. So, first we should give rest to the affected muscle. For instant relief apply Balm on muscle. Heat pad or hot water bag is also useful.
Gufic Shilpaben: Sallaki plus of Gufic is having the combination of Nagod  and sallaki it gives good result
Shri Minoo parabia: I have found Aswagandha and Ekangvirras 2x3 each effective on muscular pain. Hot fomentation gives temporary relief.
Vd. Kundan Gadhavi: In fibromyalgia deep muscle relaxation (DMR) method works, also basti gives result. In kaphavrutta condition gomutra haritaki gives immediate effect.
Dr. Madhuri Patil Chaudhari: In chronic muscular pain, snehan swedan , local oil  bastis like jaanu basti, kati basti, hrudyabasti, manyabasti.  oils used as per prakruti and doshanubandha. Narayan oil, Mahanarayan, sahachar oil, sainshav oil. aamahj conditions vishgarbha oil, or Nirgundi-erand siddha sasame oil. Viddha or viddhagni chikitsa  gives short term pain relief and reduces frequency or episodes of pain.
Dr.sujata Kadam: Deep muscle relaxation-  Can you please explain  If possible.
Vd. Kundan Gadhavi: DMR- in lying down position with closed eyes we have to ask pt to concentrate on certain muscle point then gradually relax.
Shri Minoo parabia: Yes. It is obtained through boiling slaughter house waste.
--------------------------------------------------- Ayulink 2 --------------------------------------------------------Vd. Pritam Bharat Veer: Trayodashang 1 tds relieves muscular pain. I also use Triphala Guggulu 3 stat. My Sir used to give Tab. Trayodashang 6 tablets for 2 times a day. Panchatikt ghrut  Guggulu when pittaj samprapti is present.
Dr. Nahida Tarannum: I usually give himcospaz  capsules for vague nonspecific abdominal pain like menstrual pain gas pain and my patients feel relieved after sometime. Ya symptomatic treatment sometimes works. In Ayurveda ajamoda, Guggulu,  peppermint are a few pain relieving herbs. Externally Karpura Tailam, Hingu triguna Tailam  etc works.
Dr. Rahul Doke: Normally used medicines in Acute muscular pain like sprain in back, etc(except abdominal pain) Cap narvi plus 1 stat +  Tab. Neurotone 1 stat followed by 1 cap Narvi plus after 1 hour if required. With warm water or honey or warm milk. Apply some Ayurvedic oil locally & rest for a hour.
Dr. Chirag: In acute condition of pain due to  A) Rheumatism or amaj disorder *Langhanam and swedanam* Gives very good pain relief acutely. Sunthi Lepa (anywhere) and/or Intake of sunthi with jaggery and ghee relives acute pains. B) many a time acute abdominal pain (ruling out the underlying cause) is released by simple cupping of oil lamp  Or *mahasankhvati* in dosage of 10-12 tabs with cap himcospaz/ Castro laxim. With exercise for muscle strengthening. Trayodashanga/Sinhanad gugulu is also useful.
Vd. Pritam Bharat Veer: If we think abt Panchakrm then Anuwasan Basti of Sahacharadi 30+Hingutrigun 20 ml works well.
Dr. Santosh Mali: In acute condition i  use vidha karma like acupuncture and also agnikarma.
Dr. Jayshree Y. Mahajan: For acute pain I use rasnasaptak churn 1/2 sp tds gives instant pain  relief. I  use it After exertion too. Gives result as pain killer drug.
Dr. Shantanandkumar: Tab rumawin and pain  nivaran  churna  act as best analgesic.
Ayulink: Let's share now management of chronic Muscular pain. (no other kind of pain please. Pain in Snayu or mamsa, muscle-ligaments only. For pain in joint and other origin, we will discuss later.)
Dr. Gaurav Makan: Sallaki MR is good for muscle relaxation but it is contraindicated in women who are pregnant or trying to conceive
Vd. Krutika Suhas Chaudhary: Any type of muscular pain or pain due to appendix jalauka or raktamokshan works very great....and in premenstrual spasm or spasm due to trakking etc...matrabasti is very effective.. In acute condition of pain..vata and rakta involvement can be considered..and accordingly we can have excellent result In pain of strain or Frozen shoulder...use of swedan with salt works very nicely.
Ayulink: Anybody has tried godanti on muscular pain?
Pranav Shah Vd.: Haratala bhasma has excellent result. With rsna panchak kwath- 125 mg BD  is the dose, Kwath dose is 20ml thrice a day. In Vata n kapha dominant dosha. When using in pitta dosha use chandraprabha or any other combination Or combine use of haratal godanti bhasma was also very useful. I m preparing all rasaushadhi by myself. For excellent result.
