My family members use warm pure 'Ghee'. For getting relief from headache, we
lay down straight, put some drops of this 'Ghee' in both nostrils and keep body
in lay down condition for a few minutes.

Cephagrain tablets & Cephagrain nasal drops of Charak pharma. Give good
results. we got good results with cow ghee.

I support this as anubhut in my family too. Pujya Bapalalji recommended gud-sunthi
nasya. Act very well. Pitta
shamak regimen combined with nasya gives results.

As per my view We can use suchibhed {puncture by suchi} it's good results. We
can use insulin needle and 5 to 10 stroke over the pain area. It's give instant
results. Some time pt have sool due to increase of pitta at that time we can
use pittasaman drug{pittasamak vati}.

I use combination of godanti bhasma and giloy satva - each 1 gram with water in
acute condition. Usually it works in 30-40 min. But if needed can be repeated
after every hour till shirahshul
subsides.

Godanti bhasma 1gm before meal have good result.

According to my knowledge godanti is pitta- vata pacifier*. Also it works like
anti-pyretic (like paracetamol). I use it in acute condition of fever too -
same dose and same method. (*i may be wrong in this, but practically I have
very good results).

Headache means sleepless night & uncleared bowel, these result in headache
in olden days we used to give a nice harmless laxative sonamukhi Purgative before bed time next day no
headache. This happens due to toxin(mal vish), which goes through blood to
brain creating headache. But before this laxative process we used to apply dry
zinger powder past on forehead specially right & left sides of the forehead
where the veins carry the blood to brain, requesting all learned friends, pl
avoid paracetamol as its untoward side effects on liver causes cirrhosis.

Tab. Trifalavati 3 stat ; ajirnakantak 2 ; if pittadhikya-sutshekhar ras 2
& if kafadhikya -sudarshan ghanvati 2. After 1st dose ; This treatment

control.
IPR Chhayaben:
V used to keep paste prepared lots of salt n wheat flour on two sides of forehead.
As salt have characteristics of
absorbing heat, it helps in reducing headache.

Ela with Kadali(Banana) at brahma muhurta also works. 1 ela choorna with 1
riped banana at 4.30 to 5 o’ clock at
morning should be taken.

Instead taking powder zinger to make past please take zinger rhizome( full )
soaked in water every time & rub on stone ( ghasaro ) thus made fine past
applied on forehead is more effective as penetration is faster
Vd.manasi Kulkarni: A
patient of acute shirashul came to me,last week. Has taken pain killers, But no
relief. I have done siravedh, Pathyadi kadha, Sutshekhar results within 1/2 hr.
I think ,it is pittaj shirshul...

If there 'throbbing pain ' Or pittaj
shirahshul .Go for raktamokshan cubital vein or jugular vein. Choice of vein is
painful side. Jugular vein raktamokshan is giving best result. For orally
choice Suvarn sutshekhar matra no ghasaro.

One of my patient of migraine. He is on medicines. Suddenly he comes with his
mother who was anemic with hb 3.8% . I refer her for blood tansfusion and that
person give 2 unit of blood. Now his problem of migraine is completely solve. No
medication and completely fit. Can we correlate this event with raktamokshan.

Pt with c/o sheershul Had the history of
fasts for continuously 2 to 3 days. I diagnosed it as vat pittaj sheershul and
gave her Tt - shatawari churn 10gm +
shauktik bhasm 246 mg +amrutasatwa2-3gm.
- 4-5times in a day and her pain subsided in one day. Another lady pt with
c/o sheershul with amlaodgar then I gave her 2 laghusutshekar tab in next 1/2hour her pain subsided . In
this case use laghusutshekhar by thinking that gairik will do the shoshan Kary
and sunth of pachan.

In Pittaja shirasshool , shirodhara with coconut water and rose water works
wonders. I have tried it even in acute attacks with very good results.

Yes. More of coconut & less of rose water. Around 4:1 proportion.

In how much quantity we have to take it ? Can we use the same coconut water in
the time period of shirodhara, again and

We take 10 tender coconuts at a time. Recycle same water for about 45 mins .

And for how many days we have to do the shirodhara by using coconut water and
rose water.

We usually do it for 45 minutes. If the patient is a sleep then we continue up
to 60 mins. If the patient is in acute attack then we continue till the attack
subsides.

About temperature of coconut water and rose water.Means directly or with some

1)Balahatadi taila / migrakot oil application & light massage on head 2)migrakot/
shirashoola vajra rasa/ cephagraine tabs 2 stat followed be 1 every hr till pain
subsides. 3) patyadi khada or triphala tabs 2 stat followed by 2 every hr till he
gets motion & pain subsides. Constipation must b relieved. If indigestion is the cause then langhana must
b advised. Only hot water with ginger is advised. If pain is due to hunger then
light taking light food is advised.

Acharya says eating jalebi+ green chilli before sun rise have good results in
migraine. Jalebi is ushna and snigdh. It will subside the sheet and ruksh gun
of vata . And green chilly will open the shrotorodh.

Jalebi is ok but how to eat green chilly ??

(Headache) of any etiology or pathology.

Hingvastak churn before meal. Tab.trifala gugal ; 2bd trayodashag gugal ; 2bd lashunadi vati ;
2bd pathyadi quath & bedtime rechan
aushad + diet cotrl / doshadhikya. In
pittadhikya shatavari churna+milk with sakar.

In kapha predominance I get results with Chitrak, Haritaki, shirashuladi vajra, godanti and mahalaxmi vilas ras along with
nasya of shadbindu oil. in pitta predominance sootshekar ras pathyadi kwath godanti and sirashuladi ras
along with goghrit nasya gives good results.

1. Frontal headache -
mostly due to kapha dominance - drug of choice is Laxmivilas Rasa
2.Temporal headache -
pitta dominance, drug of choice is sutsekhar rasa
3.occipital region

Gyan mudra helps in reducing headache. Gyan Mudra- Together with basic
pranayama but later it helped isolated too. I got this info from one Austrian
Dr who is practicing Ayurveda in Austria.

subsiding with setting sun, Hingu-saindhav Nasya in morning alternating with
goghrut nasya, for 7 days continuously.
no medicines only Nasya and pathykar aahar vihar. exceptional results after a
month of failed treatment of migraine by pain killers every day.

Maka ie Eclipta Alba Swaras Nasya is also useful in Suryawart.

Severe headache never before can cause brain hemorrhage- (Cow ghrit Nasya or
Bhrahmi ghrit Nasya) and Manage emergency treatment. Acute cold
caughing(Pratishyay) Nasya with Shadhbindu oil, Lakshmivilas ras. Spectacles or
weak eye side Nasya with cow ghrit or Jivantyadi ghrit ,Saptamrit loh,Amlapitta
Sutsekhar rad And Pathyadi kwath.

For Shirshul I would suggest lep of Sunth+ Vacha+ kapur on forehead. Shul is
the symptom of vaat so treat vaatprakop first. When vaat gets obstructed by pitta
or kafa aggravate shool. So we have to give pitta or kaf shamak treatment along
with it. So in my treatment vat vidwans+ kaf/pitta shamak chikitsa must be
done.
Vd. Rahul Botadara:
I use shirahsuladiras 3 tab+ laxmivilas 3tab+ sutsekhar 2tab. this combination
gives good result in acute condition. this communication gives result like paracetamol.

In migraines Sweets is useful. It gives instant relief.

Mahajan: I use Pathyadi ghan vati 2 bid, sutshekhar ras 2
tds, gives good result.

I have used pathyadi Ghan in many cases of acute headache in large dosage
acutely. I have used in a dosage of 8tabs start with luke warm water. Then 4-4.
Then 2-2 Even a good head massage with some points of marma in griva And talu gives subsidiary effect in acute
condition
Nasya in kaphaj and
vata kaphaja acute headache is good but should be performed with all steps not
only drops. Shirodhara in some pittaj condition is good. Even gud-haritaki is good
in pitaj condition

Pl elaborate this. Which kind of sweet? Dose? When to give? How to give? And in
how much time it works? We all have learnt in Ayurveda education that sweet is
good for pittaj shirahshul. You should give your experience in real patient.

Particularly Jalebi is useful- 4/5 jalebi. Good result in morning hours. Otherwise
anytime when acute attack. In known case of migraine we should use this.

I use godanti bhasma with pathyadi kwath bd gives good result. 20ml of pathyadi
kwath + 60ml of Luke warm water + 2 pinch of godanti bhasma at morning and
evening 1 hr before food.
Dr. Supratim Bir:
Dehydration is the most common cause of headache. So, immediate hydration is
the first treatment. Now suryavarta/migraine bruhana nasya with Ksheerbala 7.
Dose can b 3-5 ml in single sitting . Similarly nasya with karpashthadi in
sinus related headache cures the acuteness. Sometimes agnikarma in cervical
area cures stiffness in head. That's from my experience.

Godanti bhasm 125 mg bd with lukewarm water , Pathyadi kwath pravahi 20ml bd, Shirashuladi
vajra ras 125 mg bd.

I too give shirshuladrivajra ras 2tds, mouktik kamdudha 1tds, pathyadi kwath 1tsp bd n shirodhara by
jatamansi.
Dr.Sunil Nadaragi:
Shool is due to vat 1.patyadhatryakshadi k adha 20 ml at night before sleep (
nisha kal) with Luke warm water 2. Duralabha+ trivrutha+ abhaya choorna( each
500 mg) + aragvadha ghan vati - before
meal with Luke warm water for dipan pachan and vatanuloman.. 3 . Dashamool
kshirpak ( dashamool choorna boiled in milk) nasya will relieve instantly from
shirshool .I have good experience with this.
Dr. Rahul Doke:
2 capsules of Narvi plus + 1 shirshuladi vajra Ras + 4 Kamdudha moutik + honey.
Gives instant relief in 1 hour or so (Allopathic medicine) Phenargan tablet
(25mg) 1 + 1 diclomol tablets + 1 omez-d
capsule + warm water... Let patient sleep for 1 hour & headache subsides. Apply
some roll-on ointment on forehead + give it to smell to patient.

nice in pittaj headache. Urdhwa
jatrugat vikar always consider about rakta
dosha dushti.

I advice Daily application of balahadadi keram on head before bath. It will
prevent the attack of sirasoola.

In paitik shirshool I do raktmokshna from jugular vein it's give Instant relief.
Tilak Raj Gujrani:
Shirashul- Vaataj. Pittaj. Kaphaj.
Combination ; Migraine
associated with nausea / Vomitting, Sinusitis, Hypertension, Glaucoma, CVA.
These are a few to name. First cause / hetu then treatment accordingly.In
migraine ; 1. Naarikel lavan 2. Sutshekhar
ras 3. Lashunaadi vati 4. Tab. Godanti mishran 5. 15 - 20 ml fresh
cocconutwater frequently in sips or with straw to cool pitta and prevent
dehydration. If not available then ORS. As patient wants to close eyes or
lights switched off, typically pitta vittilated with secondary vaata. So diet
pitta VATA shamak.
Acute case Tab.
Paracetamol + Tab. Stemtil MD 5 mg. Take and complete rest in dark room for 1
hour. Quick relief. In chronic cases, just on the appearance of aura of
migraine ( it is about 1-2 hours before attack ), these two tablets and rest. Attack
prevented.
Vd Raksha Shukla:
I give tab shirshuladi 3 & pathyadi kwath ghanvati 3tab. Results is good

I give Gudadrak Nasya in acute and chronic condition of migraine. And sinusitis
. It gives instant relief.

Is gudadrak available in tail form or ghrit form in market?

trichurate with 3-6drops of milk (so patient can tolerate).

In many cases constipation is found as main nidan in shirahshool. Relief found
with only koshtha shuddhi in such cases.
LVG Shriram Gandhi:
Variyali (sonf) , Shrkara, Harad small pieces, just chew in the mouth, it can
give relief in pittaj shir shul within half an hour.

Practically ardhav bhedak and suryavart
cure in only 3 days by nasya of narayan ghrit and no history of repeat. Also 8
days patient was advised with refuse vat vardhak ahar vihar.
Dr. Vipin Pandey:
godanti bhasm +shir shuladi vajra ras + laxmi vilas ras ko pan ka swaras in
morning empty stomach before sun rise for 7 day very good result. I was given
to my mother fully relieved to her chronic headache.
Dr.Sunil Nadaragi:
Chronic cases(Purana) shirshool is mainly due to rakhatashiragata vata dosha
with sometimes anubandh of pitta kapha. it can treated by 1) virechan -
virechan with trivrutha leha should be done because virechan expel rakta gata
dosha 2) Nasya - Baladhatryadi tail( oil) or Shrigopal tail (oil) Nasya is very
effective. 3) Mahalaxmivilas ras 1 tab with 20 ml of pathyadhatryakshadi
kashyam at night before sleep should be taken. this treatment management will
definitely cure any chronic cases of headache.
Tilak Raj Gujrani:
1. Cephagrain tab and nose drops 2. From kitchen ; soak khus khus ( poppy seeds
) and split black gram daal
(urad chilka ) equal
quantity separately. In the morning mash split black gram to remove chilka,
make paste of khus khus, split black gram and a few white pepper. Fry in very
hot desi ghee, make halwa. Almonds and walnuts can also be added. Instead of
water use milk. Consume daily first thing in morning and nothing 1-1/2 hour
after that. During winter take daily. Very good brain tonic, stress remover
curing headaches.3. Almond oil as nasya

1. Cap tagar 1bd 2.cephagrain tab 1tds 3.goghrit nasya in morning Tagar give
good results in migraine.

Markovic: Think always we should look pathology.. For example
there was one woman suffering for 10 years with migrains 2-3 per week. She was apparently
ok with not much symptoms.. Some slight problem with stool. Taking pulse I
notice that her liver is weak and and samana-apana also. I gave her punarnava
mandoor and triphala. During one month she had more headache but after that
period she was getting less and less and now she is free from headache. For
vataja and kaphaja: lashuna 3-3-3 before food and shira shola vajra ras 1-1-1
give good results. For pittaja: sutshekar ras 1-2-1 before food, prawal
panchamrut 2-2-2 after food.

Hyper acidity, constipation, lack of proper and sufficient sleep, strain on
eyes due to computer work and travelling on two wheeler , chronic cold etc causes headaches. I am using cupping
therapy, electromagnetic therapy, Neuro even tension therapy , ozone oxygen
blanching therapy. For mild to chronic
pains.

Seb(apple)ke chilko ko batik kaat kar Nanak mila ke subh khali pet khaye.
Shirashul me aaram hoga.

Therapy - Due to in blood supply and saturation of plasma in veins and tissues
pains are caused. Cupping action and vaccume
releases obstruction and saturation giving instant relief frequent use
also regularise blood supply.
Electro magnetic
therapy - it kills bacteria in cavities
where medicines do not work. Neuiro even tension therapy- In this flat elastic strips are used. The
elastic strip is hold tightly on fore head with both ends exactly at backside . Holding head the strip is pulled and relaxed. This creates even tension around give acu pressure effect . Nasya of
panchagavya ghrut is also good. For hyper acidity and constipation colon cleansing
. Change in life style diet, pranayam
meditation exercise has no
option. ozone / oxygen therapy rectified many disorders. Related to
headaches.

1)Sometimes shirahshul is associated with Trigeminal Neuralgia. In this type of
cases we can use cap.palsinuron and trayodasang Guggulu 2)when modern science
says that the shirahshul is because of migraine in Ayurveda we can
interpret the diseases either associated
with Sinusitis or gastritis acid peptic disorder if disease is Sinusitis
oriented we can use Laxmi Vilas Ras and Tribhuvan Kirti Ras with shirah suladi
vajra ras. If the disease is related with gastritis or we can say amlapitta in
Ayurveda we can use avipattikar Churan and kamdudha Ras and udumbaravleh 3)
srirahshul is associated with psychiatric problems we can use smritisagar Ras
Brahmi Vati and saraswatharishtam 4) if shurahasool is related with hypertension
we can use sarpagandha Ghan vati.
