Concept of virology # Ayurveda

Dr. Prerak Shah: Does Ayurveda has concept of virology?
How to manage viral, bacterial or pathogen originated diseases with Ayurveda?
(We are not discussing about rasayana or immunity boosters for long term / preventive treatment. We want to discuss abt fast and effective action / management of such condition)
Vd. Sachin Kadlag: Yes,I agree with bhuta vidnyan and it's pratishedha has close resemblance with microscopic organisms. Rakshoghna chikitsa is explained in ayurveda to be free from such so called bhuta or rakshasa ( evils).
Dr. Prerak Shah: Stigma of d society towards bhuta n magical rituals may be a hindrance fr dat.. In d old times..only a limited strata knew n practised dat sector Yes. But the reality is that we don't have much information. If it is a special branch of Ayurveda, it must be well developed and well practiced branch. And also must be very popular too. To prevent infexn, fumigation n preparation of operating theatre mentioned by acharyas..
Vd. Sachin Kadlag: We all have heard from our childhood, bhoot is mostly not seen with our naked eyes.  It means it refers to something which exist but can't see with these eyes but can be seen with microscope. Dhoopan chikitsa also mentioned for that
Vd. Kinshuk Hirpara: I would like say something about this! I don't know where it described but tulsi we have in our corridors which helps to protect us from various bacteria. Also in my personal practice I suggest tulsi decoction in any viral fevers even if it's above 103.5. Even in kids, sometimes people say ' najar lagvi' if our kid look pretty. There must b seen by evil energy. N there are no clear evidences of any abnormal reports so it's said that it must be viral infection.  So for that guggulu dhoompana is suggested even in epidemics. All bacteria and viruses are dead in such type of medicines fumigation
Vd. sandeep Ahirkar: Vacha it's good action it's synonyms suggest bhootghani and rakshoghni. Panchgavya ghrut it's great medicine for that
Shri Minoo parabia: Diseases caused by causal organisms (virus. Bacteria.Fungi) Their Ayurvedic diagnosis and treatment.
My humble observation is, every one coming in contact with disease causing organism does not contract disease. Many are inmune and many are latent career. Ayurveda aims at identifying the causes of such susceptible subjects. Another aspect is the use of herbal remedies. Let us have learned opinions.
Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: May I suggest, try to follow seasonal regimen as suggested long back, today also in this era it is followed by many, and able to remain healthy by maintaining immunity, disease fighting power against various organisms. It is "VYADHIKSHMATVA"  the organisms though enter the body, but can not flourish, grow, give rise to a full blown disease.
Dr. Prerak Shah: Description Of Krimis or Bhuta  - can we correlate with any modern diseases? Like can we correlate gandharva, pishacha, rakshasha etc with some microbes or virus etc.
Vd. Pankaj Chhayani: All bacteria and viruses are dead in such type of medicines fumigation. I think make it asDiseases caused by causal organisms (virus. Bacteria.Fungi).viruses are not organisms.
Sorry but before going to discuss virology/ bacteriology in ayurveda, we must understand difference between bacteria, viruses, fungi etc, and about infectious agents.Viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites all are infectious agents, but all are not organisms..
Dr. Madhuri Patil Chaudhari: Two things.
1. Janopadodhvans- when Samanya bhava i.e. entities common to all living beings-Vayu(environment) Jal(water) Desh(locality), kaal(time) are polluted or vikrut, at same time, same types of signs n symptoms in majority of Janpad/people. Epidemic infectious diseases.(Ch vimanstan3/6).
2. Oojoashananaam rajanicharanam. (Ch sha.2/10).
Oujas is food for Rajanichar i.e night creatures or Rakshas(bhootadi entities, negative energy that feed on oujas or positive energy).
Dr. Bhadresh Naik: Bhut and virus are different etiology
Virus is endemic. Bhutaj is individual. We do action plan after endemic start instead of we develop immunity and ressistant before endemic by using rutucharya and precotion.Avoid personal contact with infected person to avoid more exposures. Personal hygiene is important. Smallpox, Measles, Mumps, Conjunctivitis, Viral feverare self limited time incubation period. Wait for times of course secondary complications are serious. Janpradhtvas is suitable word for virul epedamic. Matra home jap,Pray to god,Good thoughts and Behaviour,Rutucharya. prescribe by muni to prevent endemic
Dr. J. T. Contractor: Neem, Aloevera, Dhatura,Bhang etc are for controlling certain virus, bacteria in nature by default, until past centuries, but later affluent, pollution, adulteration, has not only made this phenomena blunt, but produced unusual variety of bacteria & virus many of which we are not yet been familiar with, swine flue, bird flue,AboLa, & what not! Many more probably we might witness in coming days! These unusual virus could be answered by only Ayurveda as I strongly believe that if u come closer to nature, naturalistic ways can only help save man kind, no chemicals can rescue the epidemic as it weakens the immunity by deteriorating the killer cells in body metabolism which are responsible for protection.so lets collectively join, find solution.
Vd. Tapan: Shankgdwani, Ghantadwani, Deep prajvaalanare said to reduce the viral load of the atmosphere.
Do they reduce same in the body is not proved yet. Temples where regular shankhand, Ghanta Dwani , Deep prajvaalan are performed esp during Aarati the viral load reduces significantly. Seems quite appealing.I am interested in Shankhdwani in AIDS because matho of assessing viral load in body is possible in AIDS.
Dr Jayesh Patel: Sir in ancient time "yagn" is also very iffective in this virology diseases.
Vd. sandeep Ahirkar: Agnihotri yagnya also beneficial
Dr. Madhuri Patil Chaudhari: ways of correcting vikruti of Vayu (environment), in some ways Desh but  how to correct vikruti of  Jal and Kaal?? .
Vd. Pankaj Chhayani: Very Very difficult to get rid off from kala, then desha, then udaka(jala) and vayu. In condition of dushita vayu, one can be stayed indoor(nivata gara),
Dr. Bhadresh Naik: We prey to all panchmahabhut to remain balance this not right way but we should do how to remain normal this is important and reality.Taken action to do different for protection this is real prayer
 Environmental protection By harmony

Bacterial and Viral Infections
Bacterial and viral infections have many things in common. Both types of infections are caused by microbes -- bacteria and viruses, respectively -  and spread by things such as:
Coughing and sneezing.Contact with infected people, especially through kissing and sex.Contact with contaminated surfaces, food, and water.Contact with infected creatures, including pets, livestock, and insects such as fleas and ticks.
 Vd. Pankaj Chhayani:
Chakrapani has classified causative factors of diseases in two groups.
(1) those common to living beings in general
(2) those specifies to individuals.
Former type of causative factor which commonly affect several living beings of a locality by vitiating the air(vayu), water(jala), land (desha)and season(kala)..
Vitiation of these factors are done mainly by various infectious agents (viruses, bacteria, plasmids,etc..)..
Its mainly done by changing of season adversely..
Susruta has clearly described infectious diseases in Kushtha nidana..
Skin diseases(kushtha), consumption(shosha), fever(jwara), conjunctivitis(netra abhishyanda) and other infectious diseases spread from man to man by indulgence in physical contact, expired air, eating with others in same plate, sharing bad, chair and applying used cloth, garland and paste..
Charaka has described various dhupana dravyas(imcense) in Vishama jwara chikitsa..
• Astanga dhupana for vishama jwara..
Susruta has  expounded the chapter on management of the surgical patients (wounded). Wounded should always have small nails and hairs (being cut from time to time), be pure and clean..
• Susruta says for hospitality to infectious agents with various dhupana(fumigatory incense).
• One should carefully do fumigation with mustard(sarsapa), nimba leaves, ghee and salt twice a day for ten days..
According to charaka ,in jwara chikitsa, Dosha should be removed by mild purgation(mridi shodhana), even after the fever subsides(ज्वरान्तेविरेचन)..
This is completely applied aspect, specially in Vishama jwara(malarial fever), causative organism(parasites)
Resides into gall bladder, virechana removes this remaining organisms too..
Charaka has described Raktaj Krumi as minute and not visible with naked eye, but there is no jwara as a symptom of raktaj Krumi..
Jwara is main symptom of almost all viral/ bacterial infections..
Healthy (non virulent)Bacteria are part of our  body. plasmids(infectious agent- genetic material, not organiam) enter into bacteria  and increase the virulence of bacteria and produces diseases..

Dr. Suyog Kulkarni: Along with Yajnya , beating of big drums which are coated with medicines is also prescribed  in Janapadodhwansa diseases .
Vd. Dhruti Nirav Bhatt: Nimb, Tulsi, guggulu fumigation for Viral infection,
Tulsi, turmaric, Blackpapper, saindhav decoction is very useful in infectious condition, some people use KaduKariyatu decoction for prevention of fever or infection
For bhoot chikitsa common experiments I have seen:Red chilli, Salt, Rai use for Najar uttarva.
-------------------------- end of comments from Active Group --------------------------
Vd. Sushmaben hirpara: I got dramatic results in viral infection by laxminarayan ras.  Tulsi kadha.  & Tablet Herboviral. Chickengunia,  Herpes zoster.
Dr. Prerak Shah: That's for viral infection in respiratory system?
Vd. Sushmaben hirpara: Any viral infections. .. Even in HIV patient.  With the combination of other medicines.
Dr. Archana Panchal: Guduchyadi quath is best in viral infection.
Sweety Ruparel: Fever is the main symptom of any viral infection. So the line of the management of fever should be followed first. There are so many antiviral herbs eg. Bhumyamlaki, neem, tulsi etc. But they should be used according to Dosh, dhatu involvement. Tulsi is good for kaph vat dis, whereas bhumyamlaki is good for viral hepatitis, paitik dominancy. Leech therapy gives immediate result in burning of herpes .
Dr. Arvind Shahane: Raktamokshan by Shiravedh is also good result in herpes
Dr. Prerak Shah: Treatment is not our major point of discussion.....concept of virology is major focus..
Dr. Binni Shah: Viral infections are always in acute form causing inflammation in soft tissue/organ with thin secretions.  It may be due to acute vat prakop for particular part of the body.
Dr. Arvind panchal: When immunity poor one is get viral infection...as ayurvedic approach it's vat prakop...I think....so.
Dr. Sujata Vaidya: We have got clinical evidence to show improvement in platelets. .. with whole cow colostrum Reimmugen.  Viral load reduced in numerous cases. But we have used for all viral..bacterial and as immunotherapy
Sweety Ruparel: There are scattered references in our samhitas. In  Bhutabhishangaj jwar, Janpadodhwansa, Raktaj krimi, Krimij hridrog, Kushtha, netrabhishyand,  etc. Role of microorganism  is indicated.
Dr. Jinal Thakkar: Rightly said. Janpadodhwansa has been described, And that reference can very well be applied. Dushta jal dushta vayu. Similarly we can also check other infectious diseases with reference to dushivisha. Visarpa is also one such striking reference. Where skin lesions can be correlated
 Vd. Shrinidhi: क्रिमिरोगनाशकौषधविशेषः.क्रिमिघ्नंकिंशुकारिष्टवीजंसरसभस्मकम् .वल्वद्वयञ्चाखुपर्णीरसैःक्रिमिविनाशनः
We need some research with regards to this
Dr. Hardikchandra Kalal: Virus growth( increase in number) in cold atmosphere.
Is it possible or not???
Dr. Sujata Vaidya: Ayurveda has given a long list options of anti bacteria anti virals .haldi the best option.
Dr. Hardikchandra Kalal: Almost ani viral or bacterial Ayurvedik drugs are ushna virya..So again my q?Virus growth( increase in number) in hot atmosphere. Is it possible or not???
Harsh Rathod: High Temperatures is Cidal for micro organisms. Low temperatures are Static for micro organisms. So best range for their growth is 25 - 32 celcius. So we see in rainy season losts of viral and other infections

Dr. Sreedevi N V: Krimi chikitsa in general
Dr. Prerak Shah: Are Krimis described in the books can be considered as option for virology? Any other description?
Dr. Sreedevi N V: Rabies  due to.virus  correlated to alarka visha an eg.Cholera due to vibrio cholerae bacteria correlated to visuchika
Dr. Manju Mishra: Nidan parivarjan prakrit vighat n apjarshan
Dr. Sreedevi N V: Chicken pox correlated to laghu masoorika. Common cold due to rhino virus correlated to pratisyaya
Dr. Manju Mishra: shudra  roga
Dr. Sreedevi N V: Many viral manifestations like.herpes zoster may b correlated to vata pittaja visarpa. Syphilis an std correlated to phiranga
Dr. Prerak Shah: Today we can correlate these conditions with viral / bacterial disease. But do we have any indication of such virus - bacteria etc in text book. Sometimes it may be described as 'agantuj' diseases.
Dr. Sreedevi N V: Bhuta chikitsa mainly has reference. Ds bhuta can b micro organism?
Dr. Prerak Shah: Thank you. I also want to discuss more about Bhut vigyan
Dr. Sreedevi N V: Dhoopas n lepas wt drugs like agaru, guggulu.helps ward off infectious micro organisms
Dr. Prerak Shah: Ashtang Ayurveda has one special branch of Bhuta vidhya. But we don't have much scriptures of it. For rest seven branches of Ayurveda we can find some or more literature. But why we don't have more details about Bhut vigyan? Pl share yr thoughts

Vd. Yashpalsinh Jadeja: Blowing of shankh in pujaritual
The shankh is used in two ways in a pujaritual. One for blowing before the start of ritual and other for actual puja ritual. The shankh which is used for blowing should not be kept for puja.
Blowing of shankh has special significance inpuja ritual. It has been mentioned in ‘VarahaPuran’ that one should not open the door of temple without first blowing the shankh. The left turned shankh is blown before the start ofpuja or performance of arti. There are three types of frequencies in the atmosphere namely sattva dominant, raja dominant andtama dominant. Among them the rajadominant and tama dominant frequencies generate distressing vibrations. The sattvadominant frequencies get attracted to the place of puja ritual but these frequencies are opposed by the raja and tama dominant frequencies so that they do not reach the place of puja and thus the flow of sattvafrequencies is hindered.

Dr. Dilip Pithiya: Raktaj Krumi can be
Corelated with  Virus,Bactteria Etc.
Dr. Dilip Pithiya: For Viral & Bacterial Infection We Can Say  'Bhutabhisang'  in  Ayurveda Terminology.
Dr. Zankhana Buch: To understand Current Epidemics Like H1N1, Dengue, Dengue Haemorrahagic Fever, Ebola and the recent Zika Virus,.
A strong corelation with Agantuk Jwara/Sannipata Dhatugata Jwara of Charak Chikitsa and CDC criteria of all Viral fevers is worth study.Clinically i have found excellent results based on Charak Yogas.
