Next topic for discussion: Bad Breath  (Halitosis).... causes and its management with #ayurveda
Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: Halitosis is directly related to Agni MANDYA. Liver dysfunction, collection of toxic material in the body, giving rise to HALITOSIS. Bad teeth also responsible for that.
Dr Jaydeep: Chronic sinusitis also produce halitosis. Bronchiectasis, chronic indigestion, pyorrhea are other common causes of halitosis .
Dr. Bhadresh Naik: Ketoacidosis and uremia is one of cause.
Dr. M. Dilawar A. Khan: Chronic constipation, irregular bowel habits also leads to halitosis.

Dr. Arvind Shahane: jirna pratisyay & poor oral hygiene responsible for bad breath.
Dr. Nayan Thacker: one type of aam.. dipan pachan should be necessary.
Dr. J. T. Contractor: Bad breath is a bad sign of bad stomach! Indicatively revels it that one must repairs & takes care of the tummy by restricting diet span ! Walk a lot, water the tummy a lot, dilute the body acids monitoring urine pH alkaline, maintain normal blood pressure as well brush teeth before bed.
USA Irene CCA: why in the morning is more often have bad breath than during the day? Does the persone feel has bad breath?
Dr. Dayanand Bothre: In ayurveda, it terms as udhwa vaat.

Dr. Sharmila Kulkarni: I think even worm infestation leads to halitosis.....one of the causes
Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: Hepato  Renal  syndrome, improper bowel evacuation, Uremia, Ascites, are causes of HALITOSIS.
Vd. Pritam Bharat Veer: krumighna chikitsa helps to cure bad breath.
Canada Nitin Shah: The most common cause I see here in the western world not cleaning the tongue. Some how; Tongue cleaning is not a part of routine oral hygiene practices.  Every year I come back and bring at least 500 copper tongue scrapers.
Vd. Pritam Bharat Veer: Tongue is mirror of agni.
Canada Nitin Shah: Tongue gives the mirror image of our internal organs. Let me see if I can post some pictures here about the relationship of the internal organ and tongue. If there is a coating or discolouration or any other anomaly at particular area of the tongue which is correspondent internal organ, indicates about unhealthy organ
Vd. Pritam Bharat Veer:
USA Irene CCA: then if you clean your tongue might be you don have problems with your liver?
Vd. Pritam Bharat Veer:
Vd. Sachin Kadlag: Halitosis or bad breath , we can call it shwsa or specifically utshwasha durgandha (उच्छ्वास दुर्गंधी ).
Vd. Sachin Kadlag: Bad breathe or shwasa durgandha is associated with viparita gandha guna , gandha guna is characteristic related to ghranendriya which has its adhishthana nasa (nose) , hence the chronic sinusitis (dushtha pratishyaya) relation is justified.
Dr. Hardikchandra Kalal: Bad breath: basic
From mouth is related to GI track
*Acute:- mostly related to ajirna
*Chronic:- any inflammation or ulcer or metastasis in GI track and also related to organ
from nose is related to respiratory system
*acute:- any acute infection or pneumonia or coughing with any type of cause
* chronic:- Tb or fibrosis or any metastasis or copd .
Anand Javeri: I think pungent food intake is also responsible for bad breath. Plus, one should always clean mouth by gargling properly after eating food, especially, after meals.  Also, one should clean mouth soon after drinking milk to avoid bad breath.
Dr. P. A. Deshpande: The causes of bad breath  are already discussed above by experts.  Treatment will depend on causes. For instant results  oxygen flushing for 20 /25 minutes  2 / 3  times a day is best. Similarly gargaling with wheat grass juice  also  useful in getting  good effects
Anand Javeri: Keeping liquorice in mouth, cardamom also helps. Yastimadhuvati is great! Keeping clove in mouth is also good for bad breath
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: Halitosis (bad breath) is mostly caused by sulphur-producing bacteria that normally live on the surface of the tongue and in the throat. Sometimes, these bacteria start to break down proteins at a very high rate and odorous volatile sulphur compounds (VSC) are released from the back of the tongue and throat.
According to Ayurveda, poor digestion causes the accumulation of toxins in the body, producing blockages and stagnation within the minute channels of the body. These toxins have offensive odour which then appears in breath.
Dr. Anup Torane: Most imp cause for bad breath is samata of koshtha n another oral huygine.
Dr. J. T. Contractor: Mint is best mouth soothing, after gargling with cinnamon water.
Anand Javeri: I've heard that mint is not good for throat. Prolonged use of mint makes voice rough.
Dr. J. T. Contractor: Anything in excess is not advisable in nature. That's why the matra & duration is important in Ayurveda, uses beyond recommendation harmful!
Dr. Madhuri Patil Chaudhari: Atiyog. mithyyayog. ayog.. to be considered. Samyakjyog is ayurved  principle.
------------------------- Ayulink 2 -----------------------
Kamal Javeri: Lack of personal hygine awareness. Clove cardamom are natural ingrediants.
IPR Chhayaben: Infection...
Dr. Rajeshkumar Radadiya: improper oral hygiene.
Mukesh Mehta: No proper mouth cleaning.
Medha Guard: Not rinsing mouth after meals.
Usa Dr. Vaduvur S. Narayan: In my opinion,  Halitosis could be due mainly to diet,  not brushing the teeth with a soft toothbrush and a non abrasive toothbrush and toothpaste. However, serious intestinal problems or other serious health problems  , can also be causing Halitosis!  No physician should have have halitosis, when the physician is near a patient or spouse,  because it is not self  recognized by the  physician that  he  / she stinks and the  patient will be embarrassed to tell their physician that their mouth stinks. Same with bad body odor. There are so many ways to diagnose the cause of Halitosis and treat the underlying cause.
Dr. Caroline Theresa Cutinha: Kavala with irimedadi taila daily vl prevent the condition.
Dr Harendra Thakkar Pulmologist: Halitosis could be secondary to liver disorder and untreated Gastro oesophageal reflux.
Mona Patel Naturopath: Poor dental hygiene — Infrequent or improper brushing and flossing, allows bits of food that are stuck between the teeth to decay inside the mouth. Poor oral hygiene eventually will lead to periodontal (gum) disease, which also can cause bad breath.
Infections in the mouth — These can be caused by either a cavity in a tooth or by periodontal (gum) disease.
External source — Garlic, onions, coffee, cigarette smoking, chewing tobacco. Smoking and drinking coffee, tea and/or red wine will contribute to your teeth becoming discolored.
Chewing of Clove, Saunf, cummin seeds after meals is also very helpful.
Decoction made from Methi seeds (Fenugreek seeds) helps to get rid from Bad Breathe and bad odour.
Keshav Shenoy: A pranayam known as Seetali is effective in reducing bad breath
Vd. Rupa Raval: Gandush with tiltail is very much effective for halitosis.
Medha Guard: Tongue scraping . Gandusha and Using trikatu powder to brush teeth with the index finger , followed by using a toothpaste is also helpful.
Tilak Raj Gujrani: Treatment of underlying cause i.e. nidaan parivarjanam along with local application i.e. kaval / gandoosh.
Virechana will remove toxins along with stools.
Dr. Bhaskar B Nymathi: Aasya dourgandhya also  seen when can't talk or can't  open the mouth for long duration.. It can be make proper by  Jihwa nirlekhana vidhi with any kashya/tikta dravyas. Kavala with Sugandha dravya. Mishreya, Taamboola sevana, Trijaata, etc measures can be adopt base on requirements.
Dr. Anjana Prakash: Gandusha using saptachadaadi kwath is effective.
Dr. Sachin Shinde: Halitosis in some cases, is associated with constipation/malabaddhata...Should rule out this cause also
Vd Ami Mehta:. As per my opinion first we have to rule out the cause.
Sometimes due to cough also.  Any virechan drug if constipation like earnda bhrista harde or trifala choorna.  For cough, we can treat with sitopaladi choorna,  yastimadhu choorna,  Vasa choorna,  laxmivilas ras,  etc.  Externally use in mouth,  mixture of godanti bhasma,  kapardika bhasma,  yastimadhu choorna,  trifala choorna,
Dr. Shakun Palkar: Not to eat sweet  toffee  due that carries tooth  give bad breath.
Dr. Abhay K. Sharma: We should also rule out some systemic infection.
Dr Sandeep Mishra: Sinusitis can also cause Halitosis..
Dr. Abhay K. Sharma: Yes if the infection is there. Mainly bacterial infection.
Germany Rabia: Haldi, pinch of salt and few drops of mustard oil..
This paste rub..once a week on the teeth, helps with regular hygiene,  maintenans the colour of the teeth and prevents bad breath.. Neem ka datun also is good in oral hygiene.. Prevents bacterial infection. How come the one who has bad breath doesn't feels it..Any comments.. How does one can know that my oral health is fit and I don't have any bad breath..
DR. Jenil Nayak Valsad: Its a symptom .. Need to find its disease , with nidan and samprapti... For symptomatic treatment panchvalkal quath gandush and for Pitta dominant irimedadi oil and for kafa lavangadi oil is preferable.  But one should keep in mind that main disease with cause must be rule out..
Dr. vikram delhi: Simple cleansing with Haritaki or Triphala is beneficial.
Tilak Raj Gujrani: I think sweet / chipchipa  taste or abnormal taste gives indication of one's own poor oral health or bad brearth. It can also be due to some local / systemic disease.
Dr. Jaya Sambhus: Aam is the main cause of bad breath. Many pts of DM , obesity, indigestion.... suffering from bad breath though they hv proper mouth hygiene. In this case langhan n pachan is imp.
Vd. Uday Patil: Clearing Digestive problems will also help to bring oral hygene + local treatments
Vd. Rajal shukla: Dryness of mouth is main cause of Helitosis . Ardrak and Sunthi is good for salivation and gives good result also.
Usa Dr. Vaduvur S. Narayan: Ayurveda has one the best clinical diagnostic tools for diagnosis of the location of Aam in the body by a simple and good examination of the tongue of a client. Further testing can follow.
Tilak Raj Gujrani: Foul smelling breath, urine, sweating be underarms or foot, this might be due to increased pitta or acidic nature of body. Make the body alkaline. It will dextoxify the body, and cool down pitta. May solve the problem. Just yesterday I got the report of a patient whose complaint was very foul smelling underarms. Advised increase alkaline foods and decrease acidic foods. After 2 weeks problem very much less. This is the base of my views. It can be given a trial by esteemed group members. I will wait for response if possible.
IPR Chhayaben: What are alkaline food ??
Tilak Raj Gujrani:
Dr Ashi Vaidhya: Virechana should be done with erand tail  3 tsf at bed time with milk.
Tilak Raj Gujrani: Aam condition or acidic body i.e. body needs detoxification.
Deepak Tamboli: Which tooth paste is useful which can fight sinusitis and bacterial infection?
Dr. Abhay K. Sharma: Sinus can be cleared easily with proper oleation and inhalation of aromatic fumes. For oral cavity hygiene we should properly.Rinse our oral cavity after eating anything. In ancient time people used to do aachman(rinsing their mouth with water).

Vd. Pulkit D. Patel: kosta baddhata a mukh dorgndya na karno ma nuek karan cche....

Dr. Bhavesh Modh:
Dr. Ronak Rathod: In Maharishi Ayurveda, the parts are never considered in isolation from the whole. Even a minor problem like bad breath has a holistically-based solution in Ayurveda. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who revived Ayurveda in the West in the 1980’s, used an expression that beautifully describes the essence of Ayurveda’s holistic approach: “Water the root to enjoy the fruit.” The beauty of this approach is that, by nourishing the whole, the process of restoring balance takes place in all the individual areas where it is needed without negative side effects, and at the same time brings balance to the entire body and mind. So in the case of bad breath, the answer is strong digestion and proper diet, and the side effect of balancing and attending to these will be better breath.
Vd. Divyakumari solanki: Due to lower digestion and metabolism this seen in patient.it may be also sign of irritable bowel syndrome gastritis etc.i t may be also due to poor dental hygiene, dry mouth or due to some foods. Some chemotherapy drugs and infection in mouth throat or cancer may also create this.
