Next topic for discussion:  : Haridra (Haldi, Turmeric or cucrcuma..) Uses and per #ayurveda....

Mr.  Sudhirbhai Parmar :  It is antiseptic for inner parts of body - Haldi
Dr. Satyendra Sharma: Haldi has anti inflammatory properties. As you know inflammation is the root cause of degenerative disease. Take one spoon haldi with milk or water to prevent inflammation..
Bunty Gandhi: Haldi even useful in diabetic neuropathy..Helps to relieve pain and burning ssensation in feet.
Dr. J. T. Contractor: Haldi purifies blood, reduces blockages in arteries, an aniceptic orally & externally as well, pain reliever, subsides swellings, upgrades liver…….Antiseptic
Shri Minoo parabia: One of our students Dr. Meghna Adhvaryu had done remarkable research on haldi. You can find that on research gate or Google scholar……….. › citationsMobile-friendly - MHP Meghna R Adhvaryu, Narsimha Reddy ... A comparative study of radioprotection by four Indian medicinal herbs against ... Evaluation of Adaptogenic Potential of Curcuma Longa and Zizyphus ...
Dr. Sumita Jaiswal: In case of rakta atisar....haldi  powder consumed orally is beneficial
Dr. Arvind panchal: Antiseptic, blood purifier and used for depigmentation also.
Vd. Manhar Prajapati: मेहेषु धात्रिनीशा । equal quantity of turmeric and amalki good for prameh @diabetes ..turmeric having healing property u can use wound like vicco turmeric
Vd. Kinshuk Hirpara: Curcumin is also a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants scavenge molecules in the body known as free radicals, which damage cell membranes, tamper with DNA, and even cause cell death. Antioxidants can fight free radicals and may reduce or even help prevent some of the damage they cause.
In addition, curcumin lowers the levels of two enzymes in the body that cause inflammation. It also stops platelets from clumping together to form blood clots.
Turmeric may interfere with the action of these drugs, increasing the production of stomach acid:
Cimetidine (Tagamet), Famotidine (Pepcid), Ranitidine (Zantac), Esomeprazole (Nexium), Omeprazole (Prilosec), Lansoprazole (Prevacid)
Dr. Dipali Poshtiwala: Best skin tonic, blood purifier, natural anti biotic, wound healer, best in throat disease, anti aging, anti swells too
Dr. Meghdoot Satvekar: Turmeric's major constituents are: 'curcumin', various 'curcuminoids' and 'curcuma oil' (particularly dl-ar-turmerone), which exhibits a wide range of biological activities, e.g. anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, hypolipidemic, hepatoprotective, lipoxygenase, cycloxygenase, protease inhibitory effects, besides being effective active oxygen species scavengers and lipid peroxidase (a class of oxidoreductase enzymes) inhibitors. Curcumin and the curcuminoids also lower cholesterol, reduce platelet aggregation, inhibit proliferation of cancer cells and improve digestion by increasing the flow of bile from the gallbladder. Curcumin and the essential oils of C. longaparticularly sodium curcuminate differentially affect the individual constituents of bile. Oral administration of curcumin and curcuminoids (750 mg/kg) has been reported to prevent the formation and dissolution of urinary calculi. Turmeric powder, extracts and curcumin also exhibit antioxidant property.
Satyen: Circumin is not water soluble…….So beneficial and more bio available if taken with oil
Dr. Meghdoot Satvekar: In clinical trials, dietary curcumin was shown to exhibit poor bioavailability, exhibited by rapid metabolism, low levels in plasma and tissues, and extensive rapid excretion. Potential factors that limit the bioavailability of curcumin include insolubility in water (more soluble in alkaline solutions) and poor absorption.
Dr. Prerak Shah: I use warm curcuma paste on inflammation or swelling - externally. ……….Also for tonsillitis 1 tsf curcuma powder + little honey or a small piece of rock sugar; to be chewed and swallow slowly so that it can stick on tonsil, and throat wall. This is most economical and faster remedy. We can repeat this for several days, 2-3 times a day.
Satyen: Coconut oil is mostly used in western world.
Vd. Dhruti Nirav Bhatt: Haldi Usna, utejak, Bloodpurifier, Shothhar, dipan, grahi, khaphaghna, vathar, vranropan…………..Uses:Haridrakhand is best preparation for Eosinophilia, and immunity…………. Boil Turmaric powder and add gud For Caugh cold, Diabetes, Conjuctivitis ………….Inhale turmaric dhum at night for pratishyay……….. Skin tonar: Turmaric, Manjistha, dhanyak,Vacha, Lodhra, and Kapurkachli make paste and apply with rosewater………Turmaric juice, Amala juice and pure honey is best remedy for Diabetes
Vd. Ketan bhimani: Nishamalaki churna……Desi scrubbing : chana no lot, dudh ni malai, haldi ... Pest apply during bath.
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: In charak samhita Haridradi ghurt is used in kamla..
Bunty Gandhi: HaridraKhand is other shashtroky medicine……..Useful in many skin problems, itching, etc……DaruHaridra type of haridra useful in swollen conditions as said by Dr. Prerak………I have used Rasanjan - daruharidra's water extract.. It is much useful..But its very hard to grind it in normal mixer..
Vd. Kundan Gadhavi: there r many products of haridra in market for skin, arthritis, cancer etc……..syrup  only contains curcuma longa-125 mg,equt. to curcuminoids 7.75%.......... they r saying that it is made from high technology, nanoparticles so easily absorbed and more bioavaibality hence costly
Brazil Fatima Sardinha: There is evidence of the need for a healthy microbial biotransformation if curcuminoids and effective use of turmeric. As ayurveda see it?
Vd. Jignesh Thakkar: Haridra has ruksha guna. It is good in kafaj kas(productive cough)…….And it is contraindicated in  vataj kas(dry cough)…….This simple logic lehman don't understand and uses curcuma longa in both type of kas-cough…….But doctors of ayurveda are well versed with this fact……. Kasayah stambhniyananam…….For any external bleeding u can apply Haridra directly as powder it will stop bleeding……But internal bleeding is mostly of pitta origin……Again internal use of Haridra will give USNA (hot) for internal bleeding Haridra is not good……Again for any type of bleeding internal use of Haridra is not good……But external application stops bleeding……..Daruharidra is different drug and useful in any type of bleeding……Same way Haridra is good for skin but only if there is no rokshya(dryness)……If dryness is there avoid Haridra internal or external use.
Germany Helga Fuchs: Syrup with nanopartikels! What a crazy world! That's not Ayurveda and danger. Here in Europe people get very sick die this plastic in food, toothpaste, watherbottles, creams, dresses... And Natur get very sick too. This Nanopartikels are for ever, she will not be digested in the next hundred years. I hope that India with his natural knowing about life never accept this in big style. And please: never in food or naturalmedicine.
Shrikalp Deshpande: Interested to know more about Nanoparticles and Ayurveda. Even some std method with Gold Preparations are like nanoparticles formulations??
Vd. Akshata Swami: All bhasma preparations are beyond nanotechnology not only with gold, any dhatus
Shri Minoo parabia: Daruharidra is Berberis aristata. It is yellow in colour. This is The only semblance with Curcuma longa.
Please don't mix the understanding.  Nanoparticles and the molecular activity needs detailed discussion and understanding. History has seen the miserable failures of single molecular drugs. Helga is very right to the core. Ayurvedic understanding is much ahead of all this. What requires is the proper interpretation. And this group has that capacity to churn the real cream out of imbroglio of knowledge systems………..Yes bhasma and bhavna methods (trituration with the extract of same material or other repeatedly to heightened potency) may have similar effects. This needs study to prove…….As I understand metallurgy is the later introduction to Ayurveda. Perhaps great Jain king Nagarjuna did that. I stand for correction.  This was the great outcome of the then chemistry.
In west they learnt this as an Al-chemie through Arab travellers.  Only goal was the creation of Gold from inferior metal. Why mercury? Mind well,  Periodic table was not known to the world then. How they must have established a relationship with mercury?  Mind boggling. If opportunity given I would love to discuss at length with friends like you.
Dr. Sumita Jaiswal: Fresh Neem leaves n raw haldi mixed n made into paste can be used in many skin problems as external application……Haldi boiled in warm water can b used for gurgling in cough or tonsillitis…….In cold season n places amlaki swarasa is prescribed to be taken mixed with haldi……..Haldi is considered to be holy in Hindu religion as it is applied to d soon to be groom n bride for their healthy skin n body……. Coz of its antiseptic properties it is included in many skin related lotions etc
Dr. Nayan Gajera: 1tsf haldi mix in 1 glass of water and take it every useful for itching in head due to dandruff
Germany Helga Fuchs: Haldi and honey 1:2 tsp., for build up the bronchioles after pneumonia. Take it for 2-3 months. Also good in bronchitis for 2 weeks and for some days if there is weath cough (with mukus). 3 times/day before meal or beetwen meal. It is very useful in real……heavy conditions. Agni get more strenght and by this digestion is better. Do not use it if ama due heat is there. Only common cold ama as mucus is. In hot ama due pitta, no honey.
Vd. Shrinidhi: Exactly sir in our classics it is having kapha vata hara karma due to its usna guna and katu vipaka its also grouped under lekhaniya gana. I use it with a pinch of pepper in case of nasal congestion with good benefit
Dr. Surendra Devanagare:
Dr. Dipali Poshtiwala: I have used haldi ghrut in itching bz of herpes zoster... Its really effective
Germany Helga Fuchs: Ama is cold and need treatment of hot quality. If heat is there it is difficult to treat AMA…..Haldi-grut internal? Or application? If internal befor meal? And how much? Thank you.
Dr. Saritha Reddy: Which company manufacturers haldi grit, and mode of administration give information, thank you  .
Dr. Dipali Poshtiwala: Not from any company... I had telling pt. For it self... Take haldi n mix it up with homemade ghee... N apply

Kept in fridge it'll be ok for around 40 days……..1/4 ts heated with 200ml of oatmilk, a liitle cinnamon added…..Very delicious and also makes you feel warm and happy :)
Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: haridra when used along with. mari, ie, black pepper, the properties of haridra are enhanced, mari acts as a bio enhancer.
Mrs. Binduben Jayeshbhai: Turmeric is effective in case of skin allergy
Germany Kathrin Ramcke Hamburg: Cucurma in water to use for tonsillitis. Not drinking, just gurgling...
IPR Chhayaben: Good info about bad effect of haldi.. V knew only good effect..
Vd Ami Mehta: Haldi & cow ghee with lukewarm milk is very iffective to purify uterus after delivery & miscarriage……Haldi with arkapatra swaras is useful to remove  warts
Vd. Vidhi Joshi: Wht is d ratio of both??  ami ji
Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: kindly show me the refrence of haridra causing gall stones,  haridra being hepatoprotective, least likely to be contraindicated in liver disorders. As. gallbladder stones can not be formed as long as. bile is not lithogenic. there are numerous references that. Haridra is. Hepato. protective
Vd Ami Mehta: 1 tsp haldi & 1tsp cow ghee with 1 glass lukewarm milk …You can add kesar also,  give best result…..In warts depends upon wart size, but apply only warts.
Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: Kindly note that there are no side effects of Haldi at all, no authentic ref from. Std Ayurvedic. text books mentioning the side effects of. haldi /  haridra, /  curcuma longa. containing. Curcumin as active. phytochemical.
Dr. Bhavesh Modh: Some scientific facts about  curcumin.
*curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.
*However, the curcumin content of turmeric is not that high… it’s around 3%, by weight
* most of the studies on this herb are using turmeric extracts that contain mostly curcumin itself, with dosages usually exceeding 1 gram per day. It would be very difficult to reach these levels just using the turmeric spice in our foods.
*Therefore, if we want to experience the full effects, then we need to take an extract that contains significant amounts of curcumin.
*Unfortunately, curcumin is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream. It helps to consume black pepper with it, which contains piperine… a natural substance that enhances the absorption of curcumin by 2000%
*Curcumin is also fat soluble, so it may be a good idea to take it with a fatty meal. *Golden milk  = A combination of turmeric & cow's milk.
Tilak Raj Gujrani: Mulhethi powder - 100 gm, Haldi - 50 gm, Black pepper powder - 10 gm…..Mix all these. About 3 gm of this mixture boil in one cup of milk , when luke warm add one tsf honey. Can be taken twice daily….Can be used in cough, cold, throat irritation, tonsillitis. It also act as mild tranqilser as well as laxative…..Most of its properties are due to astrigent i.e. Kashay ras…..So far as phyto hormones concerned, it acts as progestrone…..South Indian married woman apply turmeric to their face and sometimes all over the body as a ritual. It is commonly believed that turmeric is good for skin as it protects the skin from infections, enhances the complexion and retards body and facial hair growth. Apart from this it has another advantage. Turmeric helps the body to produce progesterone which is a very important female hormone. Skin being the biggest organ of the body absorbs the nutrients from the turmeric applied on the skin and maintains the progesterone hormone balance in the body which is responsible for body hair. Women with proper progesterone balance have hardly any body hair. After menopause the production of progesterone in the body decreases due to which facial hair starts growing. There are various herbal medicines which can help woman maintain the hormonal balance. It is advisable to take them under Doctor’s supervision.
Dr. Bhavesh Modh: Turmeric is a well-known preservative. Scientists from Gujarat found that adding turmeric to paneer (cottage cheese) extends the shelf life of paneer up to 12 days.
• Turmeric is a great pesticide. Sprinkle turmeric (powder) water near all the entry points of your house to ward of insects, ants, and termites.
Researchers from the Government Medical College (Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India) published the results of the first study  April 2013 to evaluate curcumin’s ability to manage depression in a controlled setting. Taking 60 volunteers diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD) and diving the group to determine how patients treated by curcumin compared against fluoxetine (Prozac) and a combination of the two, it discovered that that the principal curcuminoid in turmeric is not only as effective as Prozac in managing depression, it doesn’t carry with it all the dangerous side effects as anti-depressive drugs do. According to the paper, “This study provides first clinical evidence that cur cumin may be used as an effective and safe modality for treatment in patients with MDD.”
Turmeric Benefits Trump Medications.
selected 10 drugs that pale in comparison to turmeric in potentially reversing disease.  As read this report, keep in mind that one of the most powerful advantages curcumin has over the traditional medical approach is the lack of side effects.
1. Anticoagulants/Antiplatelets
Medical intervention generally includes the following medications to slow and prevent blood clotting: Aspirin, Clopidogrel (Plavix), Diclofenac, Enoxaparin (Lovenox), Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), Naproxen, Warfarin (Coumadin)…….Unfortunately, for people with conditions that are treated by these drugs (i.e. deep-vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism), this approach may not always be the wisest decision.🤔 In addition to common side effects like excessive bleeding and hemorrhage, the risks associated with anticoagulants abound and include everything from back pain to headaches to difficulty breathing.

Turmeric, on the other hand, has relatively no known side effects unless taken in extremely excessive amounts……….Additionally, ever since several groundbreaking studies in the mid-1980s, the curcumin in turmeric has been suggested by researchers as actually being a better option for those with vascular thrombosis.
2. Anti-depressants
Although few studies have been conducted on humans, dozens of research trials have proven that turmeric is especially effective in correcting depression symptoms in laboratory animals……….To address this issue, the journalPhytotherapy Research published the results of an amazing, innovative study this past year.  The study took 60 volunteers diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD) and split the group to determine how patients treated by curcumin fared againstfluoxetine (Prozac) and a combination of the two. ……Not only was it discovered that all patients tolerated curcumin well, but they discovered curcumin was as effective as Prozac in managing depression……..According to the authors, “This study provides first clinical evidence that curcumin may be used as an effective and safe therapy for treatment in patients with Mild Depression.”
3. Anti-inflammatories
Arguably, the most powerful aspect of curcumin is its ability to control inflammation. …….The journal Oncogene published the results of a study that evaluated several anti-inflammatory compounds and found that aspirin and ibuprofen are least effective, while curcumin, is among the most effective anti-inflammatory compounds in the world. ……..This news should have reached every household in the world after the study was conducted because inflammation puts people at risk for almost every disease process known to man………..Diseases today such as cancer, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, high cholesterol and chronic pain can be the result of inflammation………..As you will see below in several other articles related to chronic illness, keep this in the back of our mind:Turmeric’s key to disease reversal may be its ability to keep inflammation at bay.
4. Arthritis management
Because curcumin is known for its powerful anti-inflammatory and pain reducing characteristics, a study was conducted on 45 rheumatoid arthritis patients to compare the benefits of curcumin in turmeric to arthritis drugs (diclofenac sodium), that put people at risk of developing leaky gut and heart disease…….The study split these volunteers into three groups: curcumin treatment alone, diclofenac sodium alone, and a combination of the two. The results of the trial were eye-opening: The curcumin group showed the highest percentage of improvement in overall [Disease Activity Score] scores and these scores were significantly better than the patients in the diclofenac sodium group. More importantly, curcumin treatment was found to be safe and did not relate with any adverse events. A study provides the first evidence for the safety and superiority of curcumin treatment in patients with active RA, and highlights the need for future large-scale trials to validate these findings in patients with RA and other arthritic conditions………..Published by Phytotherapy Researchin 2012, the results of this study has encouraged more human research to evaluate the amazing effects curcumin-rich plants like turmeric has on people suffering from various different types of arthritis.
5. Cancer treatment
Of all the various topics scientists have tackled in regards to the curcumin and disease reversal, cancer (of various types) is one of the most thoroughly researched topics. In the words of global authorities like Cancer Research UK,……A number of laboratory studies on cancer cells have shown that curcumin does have anticancer effects. It seems to be able to kill cancer cells and prevent more from growing. It has the best effects onbreast cancer, bowel cancer, stomach cancer and skin cancer cells………A 2007 American study that combined curcumin with chemotherapy to treat bowel cancer cells in a laboratory showed that the combined treatment killed more cancer cells than the chemotherapy alone.

States-side, the American Cancer Society states, Laboratory studies have also shown that curcumin interferes with cancer development, growth, and spread. Researchers have reported that curcumin blocked the formation of cancer-causing enzymes in rodents……….Recently, curcumin has received a great deal of focus because of it’s ability to reduce tumor size and kill cancer cells.
Bottom line: Turmeric works incredibly well to help potentially stop cancer and is especially effective at treating breast cancer, colon cancer and skin cancer.
6. Diabetes management
For lowering blood sugar and reversing insulin resistance there’s arguably no better natural treatment than adding turmeric into your diet……..In 2009,  Biochemistry and Biophysical Research Communications published a study out of Auburn University that explored how supplementing with turmeric can help reverse diabetes………The study discovered that curcumin in turmeric is literally 400 times more potent than Metformin (a common diabetes drug) in activating AMPK which improves insulin sensitivity which can help reverse Type 2 Diabetes……..In addition to correcting the causes of diabetes, curcumin has also been proven to help reverse many of the issues related to insulin resistance and hyperglycemia………….Take, for instance, diabetic neuropathy and retinopathy. One of the most common complications of diabetes is damaged blood vessels which cause blindness…………A study found that supplementing with curcumin can delay this horrible complication of diabetes because of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
7. Gastrointestinal treatments
Oftentimes, people with digestive and stomach complaints become intolerant to medical interventions because the stomach flora is already compromised and drugs can literally tear up the mucosal lining……..An in-depth analysis of all the studies evaluating curcumin’s ability to manage inflammatory bowel disease (IBS, Crohn’s disease, and Ulcerative Colitis) found that many patients were able to stop taking their prescribed corticosteroids because their condition improved so dramatically by taking curcumin! ………For many patients with IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) corticosteroids reduce their pain symptoms, but damage the intestinal lining over time actually making the condition worse……..However, supplementing with curcumin did not have these side effects and, because of its anti-inflammatory properties, actually helped heal the gut and supported the growth of good bacteria (probiotics).
8. Cholesterol regulators
One of the reasons heart disease is such a problem in the U.S. is that people are developing pre-diabetes (excessive blood sugar) at an alarming rate……..In turn, diabetics and non-diabetics alike are suffering from a common complication called oxidative stress, which damages the inside of blood vessels.  Because of this damage to the arteries, cholesterol begins to build up to patch up the damaged areas which leads to high levels of LDL cholesterol………..Traditionally, statin drugs (like Lipitor) are widely known to harm the kidneys and liver and cause a number of deadly side effects.  They do bring cholesterol down but never address that actual cause which is oxidative stress that is caused by high blood sugar levels and inflammation. Thankfully, medical doctors are becoming more and more aware of the dangerous side effects of statin-drugs and prescribing natural alternatives like curcumin and fish oil instead!............A study done by Drugs in R & D found that curcumin was equal or more effective than diabetes medications at reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in the treatment of high cholesterol………Studies like these are causing pharmaceutical companies to try and design a synthetic form of curcumin that unfortunately, will not work as well as the real thing.
9. Painkillers
One of the more widely accepted properties of curcumin in scientific communities is its ability to manage pain……..Just this past year the European Journal of Pharmacology published research that discovered curcumin naturally activates the opioid system in diabetic rats. Typically manipulated by drugs, this natural process serves as the body’s inherent pain-relieving response. …….Not being limited to diabetic pain conditions, an interesting study also published late last year gives us a clue as to the wide array of pain conditions that can be treated by curcumin………Take, for instance, severe burns. Typically, burn victims are treated by dangerous opioids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories. However, because of its anti-inflammatory benefits, U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research suggests that, curcumin should be used to treat burns instead of these conventional medications………..The trend should becoming clear at this point. Therapeutic use of turmeric and other curcumin-rich plants are displacing conventional medical treatments.
10. Steroids
Lastly, take a look at how turmeric benefits the many conditions normally treated by corticosteroids such as: Psoriasis, Lupus, Rheumatoid arthritis, Scleroderma, Chronic pain.
In a 1999 breakthrough clinical study, it was found that curcumin has the ability to cure chronic inflammation of the eye.  Typically this condition was only treated with steroids but today it’s common for medical doctors who practice functional medicine to prescribe curcumin instead………..What cannot be overstated, however, is that although statistically “comparable” to steroids in managing and reversing chronic disease, “Thelack of side effects with curcumin is its greatest advantage compared with corticosteroids,” as stated by the authors in the above study out of K.G. Medical College.
Dr. Prerak Shah: English version of comments posted by Dr. Bhavesh Modh earlier today:
Turmeric is LIKELY SAFE when taken by mouth or applied to the skin appropriately for up to 8 months.  Turmeric is POSSIBLY SAFE when it is used as an enema or a mouthwash in the short-term.
Turmeric usually does not cause significant side effects; however, some people can experience stomach upset, nausea, dizziness, or diarrhea.
In one report, a person who took very high amounts of turmeric, over 1500 mg twice daily, experienced a dangerous abnormal heart rhythm. However, it is unclear if turmeric was the actual cause of this side effect. Until more is known, avoid taking excessively large doses of turmeric.
Special Precautions & Warnings:
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: During pregnancy and while breast-feeding, turmeric is LIKELY SAFE when taken by mouth in amounts commonly found in food. However, turmeric is LIKELY UNSAFE when taken by mouth in medicinal amounts during pregnancy. It might promote a menstrual period or stimulate the uterus, putting the pregnancy at risk. Do not take medicinal amounts of turmeric if you are pregnant. There is not enough information to rate the safety of medicinal amounts of turmeric during breast-feeding. It is best not to use it.
Gallbladder problems: Turmeric can make gallbladder problems worse. Do not use turmeric if you have gallstones or a bile duct obstruction.
Bleeding problems: Taking turmeric might slow blood clotting. This might increase the risk of bruising and bleeding in people with bleeding disorders.
Diabetes: Curcumin, a chemical in turmeric, might decrease blood sugar in people with diabetes. Use with caution in people with diabetes as it might make blood sugar too low.
A stomach disorder called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): Turmeric can cause stomach upset in some people. It might make stomach problems such as GERD worse. Do not take turmeric if it worsens symptoms of GERD.
Hormone-sensitive condition such as breast cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, endometriosis, or uterine fibroids: Turmeric contains a chemical called curcumin, which might act like the hormone estrogen. In theory, turmeric might make hormone-sensitive conditions worse. However, some research shows that turmeric reduces the effects of estrogen in some hormone-sensitive cancer cells. Therefore, turmeric might have beneficial effects on hormone-sensitive conditions. Until more is known, use cautiously if you have a condition that might be made worse by exposure to hormones.
Infertility: Turmeric might lower testosterone levels and decrease sperm movement when taken by mouth by men. This might reduce fertility. Turmeric should be used cautiously by people trying to have a baby.
Iron deficiency: Taking high amounts of turmeric might prevent the absorption of iron. Turmeric should be used with caution in people with iron deficiency.
Surgery: Turmeric might slow blood clotting. It might cause extra bleeding during and after surgery. Stop using turmeric at least 2 weeks before a scheduled surgery.
USA Irene : Turmeric is a good cleaner  for chanels (srotas)
Vd. Amarish Pandya: Excessive intake of fresh Haridra i.e. more than 100 gm per day caused steep rise in serum bilirubin in one patient and came to normal within two week's after stopped the intake.
Vd. Pankaj Chhayani: Paste of Turmeric powder + Latex of calotropis procera is good for blemishes...Turmeric improves complexion of face...
Chile Javiera: I use curcuma + aloe vera     in liver problem  ..very useful.
Dr. Sheetal Sumra: Wet haldi (roots) the one which looks like ginger can be taken with milk at night it's has anticancerous properties. Even Oncologist in Tata memorial hospital advice to do the same, they advice this after chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Dr. Rajeshkumar Radadiya: Haldi powder with warm water gargals useful in lock's good for tobbaco chewing patient…… continue for least 4 months, very good results In Any type of allergic conditions….Even sinusitis, I use Anu tail with haridrakhand.for 3 months avoid DNS surgery, after clearance with CT scan

Dr. Bhavesh Modh:

Vd. Amarish Pandya: According to WHO monographs on medicinal plants Curcumae longae ( Haridra ) is useful for acid peptic disorders like peptic ulcer, flatulent, atonic dyspepsia,  pain and inflammation of RA, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, diarrhoea, epilepsy, skin diseases, etc. In vivo Haridra decreased gastric secretion and increase the mucin content of gastric juice. Dose of the drug is 3 to 9 gms. - crude plant material, powder 1.5 to 3 gms, tincture 0.5 to 1 ml……Haridra is found to be anti mutagenic and reduce viral load in hepatitis C. Tab. Curcumin is  now a days widely prescribed by oncologist also.
Germany Stefanie Erb: Can it be used externally on wounds? Little wounds that bleed as well?
Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: yes it can be used externally on wounds, even the oozing / bleeding can be treated, provided the wound is not too deep, pt is not. hypertensive, as pts with.  uncontrolled HTN, bleed quite. a lot…….it acts as an antiseptic, astringent
Mr.  Shriram Gandhi: Now curcumin gel is prescribed by dentist also.
Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: nice. information
Germany Rabia: Since my childhood we does a dental cleaning once a month. My grandmother receipe ……….Take a table spoon of salt..add a tea spoon of mustard oil and a pinch of haldi (kurkuma, turmeric)…….Mix it with finger and rub as a scrub on the teeth. It helps restoring the teeth color. Saves from infections. So in my family either we all have good teeth or this formula is great.

Dr. Bhavesh Modh: अर्क (Calotropis gigantea) के  क्षीर  ( जो इसका पर्ण को तोड़ने के बाद टपकता है ।) उसे हल्दी 10 ग्राम  के साथ  मिलाकर  तुरंत  ही melasma  ( Melasma is a common skin problem. It causes brown to gray-brown patches on the face. Most people get it on their cheeks, bridge of their nose, forehead, chin, and above their upper lip.)
