Today's topic for discussion:   Keloids  - #Ayurveda approach?

Dr Dipak Shirude: This is incurable and needs continuous care and medications to avoid further progress and complications ..Aarogyavardhini, Trifala guggulu, Kanchanar guggulu, Laghusutshekhar

Germany Helga Fuchs: Question: soft virecana and nasya, diet etc. what is with basti treatment? Can it be added to catch the vataimbalance and inflammation on the roots? With adviced herbs there must come deeper process for balance V. Patients get stronger. As I know, if there is any cancerous activity, abhyanga should not be given. We increase kapha by them and cells growing get helph. Hm, but if patient is strong and able for cleaning processes, it must be possible to give him good "diet" due basti. The increased V due cleaning should be not dominant enough to create more trouble. And start with basti on the 9day after virecana gives the body better food as any diet can do. I remember that patient who is not able to eat we feed him rectal. In this case eating is sometime not easy and patient suffering due weakness. Weakness creates pressure and V increase. Inflammation to. Sorry if I am wrong.

Dr Dipak Shirude: Pratisaaran = Application of combination of suksma choornas and honey with some pressure on the fibrosed patches ..
Followed by Gandush

Vd. Jignesh Thakkar: Keloid incurable in allopathy

Shri Minoo parabia: Keloid is the inherited tendency from immediate or remote parents. Any injury may result in a keloid on healing for such patients. Remedy not yet known to us. Some one may through light.

Vd. Jignesh Thakkar: Ksharkarma can be answer but i have no experience.

Vd. Prerak Shah: For keloids, I have tried everything with PK. Including vaman, virechan etc. But no result.

Shri Minoo parabia: If you do that you will end up with added extra keloids. Even plastic surgery doesn't work. It is genetic tendency. Healing of wound precipitate extra tissue mass.

Dr Dipak Shirude: Never try ksharkarma or anything like that on keloid .. If you try to disturb that tissue, it grows with more vigour .. I have tried once or twice Jalaukavacharan .. It proved worth along with internal medicines .. It even reduces but not completely vanished ..The most frustrating thing in keloid is that it grows secondary infections ..To keep it clean and save it from sepsis is the main motto ..

Vd. Ajay Pithiya: As this is related to genetic tendency any surgical removal technique will worsen the condition..

  1. Though i have never treated myself but one of my seniors uses bhallaka thailam for the same.
Method of use- Diluted Bhallatak thailam in kerosene oil in the ratio 1:10. then apply it cautiously using a tooth prick leaving the periphery.Multiple applications are required giving time inbetween for vrana ropana for which narikela thailam is preffered.
