Today's topic for discussion: [12/1/2015, 7:21 PM] +91 98242 43567: Next topic for discussion: SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus).... #Ayurveda approach

Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: Systemic Lupus Erythematosis….An Autoimmune disease Tri-dosha are involved. The Ayurvedic remedy of lupus depends upon the presentation of symptoms and the involvement of diverse systems and organs. This becoming an autoimmune illness, to begin with and foremost, it is very important to try and restore the immune function of the physique. Immunomodulatory therapy can be given utilizing medicines like Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra), Pippali (Piper longum), Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata) and Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia).  According to Ayurveda, the body is created up of seven "Dhatus" or tissues . It is imperative to see which of the body tissues are affected most, in a patient with lupus. These tissues can then be treated with the proper medicines so as to repair the harm carried out, and to restore optimum function of the body. Precise Ayurvedic treatment can also be given according to the affected  organ.

Vd. Mahesh Akani: Guduchi - sida codifolia is the best drug for S L E. I am doing Vaman , Virechan, Basti of Bala, rasna, dasmul for anuvasan& aasthapan. Also giving 1) Bala guduchyadi kwath  2) Amruta ghrut 3) Maha Mangisthadi than 4) Khirbala aavarti 5) Sutsekhar ras

Bunty Gandhi: Yes immunity enhancing herbs keeping in mind of person's prakruti..

Vd. Pankaj Chhayani: In SLE, there is genetic susceptibility. There is mainly type 3 hypersensitivity with type two hypersensitivity. Many systems are involved. Mainly Rasa dhatu dushti is there. Its problem due to defective gene , so here problem is started in Gharbha rasa... Kapha is mala of rasa dhatu.. Prakrit kapha is Bala(good immunity) while vaikruta kapha is mala(auto immunity)...प्राकृतस्तु बलं श्लेष्मा विकृतो मल उच्यते !! स चैवौजः स्मृतः काये....so here rasa dhatu dushti mainly occur. Vikrita kapha (ama)is produced more... In this condition Pippali is useful with systemic approach. Treatment must be done as per tissue involvement with rasayan therapy...

Shri Minoo parabia: Lupus E;  a lady 20 years and Lupus nephritis later was on 40mg/day Wysolon. A lady 35 years, when approached me. Regimen followed ...... Mahamanjishthadi kadha 250 + manjistha 50 g. Fresh decoction. Giloy; launea; Aloe; Euphorbia hirta fresh extract every day. Gokhru; punarnava fresh decoction. Both are fine. Former about 12 years old and later about 20 years old cases. Treated at Surat. Interested friend can visit one with LN as she stays very much in Surat..Sreroids were tapered gradually and were discontinued after about 5 months.

Germany Helga Fuchs:  With today's topic I do not have experience, sorry.

Vd. Jignesh Thakkar: No experience about SLE..

Vd. Prerak Shah: I have treated few cases of SLE with virechan followed by high dose of guduchi Satva and gives good result. Unfortunately my job  ends with Panchkarma and I have to refer back the patient to his/ her physician. So no more further data available.

Dr Dipak Shirude: I have some experience about this .. typical SLE patients were very few but other similar conditions are regularly seen .. Typical butterfly sign on face and multiple joint involved .. According to modern texts, SLE reduces life span of the patient, remarkably .. I have studied about this far ago in student life .. Practically, Amrutottaram quath, Balaguduchyadi quath, Kokilakshak quath, Manjishthadi quath, These are used as per prakriti and kal  ..I have high belief in administration of Suvarna in this ailment .. One can use it according to the economical status of the patient .. Suvarnasiddha JAL, Suvarna malini Vasant, Brihat Vat Chintamani Ras, Yogendra Ras, can be chooses as per situation .. I also believe that just wearing pure gold on body raise immunity !!?!! .. Karuthamarmani lepam from south Indian texts is very effective when used externally in the inflammatory conditions of any immunity related disease .. It gives symptomatic relief but it needs to keep the patient's hope alive uptill the immune system upgrades !

Vd. Kinshuk Hirpara: Guduchi - tinospora cordifolia it contains berberine, tinosporin,  beta stetosterol..Some info on beta sitosterol- Beta-sitosterol is a substance found in plants. Chemists call it a “plant sterol ester.” It is found in fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. It is used to make medicine.
Beta-sitosterol is used for heart disease and high cholesterol. It is also used for boosting the immune system and for preventing colon cancer, as well as forgallstones, the common cold and flu (influenza), HIV/AIDS, rheumatoid arthritis, tuberculosis, psoriasis, allergies, cervical cancer, fibromyalgia, systemic lupuserythematosus (SLE), asthma, hair loss, bronchitis, migraine headache, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Some men use beta-sitosterol for enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH). Some women use it for symptoms of menopause. It is also used for enhancing sexual activity. Marathon runners sometimes use beta-sitosterol to reduce pain and swelling after a run. Some people apply beta-sitosterol to the skin for treating wounds and burns. In foods, beta-sitosterol is added to some margarines (Take Control, for example) that are designed for use as part of a cholesterol-lowering diet and for preventing heart disease. The federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows manufacturers to claim that foods containing plant sterol esters such as beta-sitosterol are for reducing the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). This rule is based on the FDA’s conclusion that plant sterol esters may reduce the risk of CHD by lowering blood cholesterol levels. Although there is plenty of evidence that beta-sitosterol does lower cholesterol levels, there is no proof that long-term use actually lowers the risk of developing CHD. Guduchi has the natural steroid, and in SLE allopathy uses steroids in lower dosage regularly.  Stil clinical trials going onwards. Research in process

Shri Minoo parabia: Dr Rege of KEM did extensive work on T.cordifolia. cultivation and utilization of medicinal and aromatic plants a book by sir. The best immunomodulator.

Vd. Hardik bhatt: I think our all rasayaana drugs are containing this type of qualities like aamla haritaki guduchi shatavari yastimadhu etc

Vd. Manhar Prajapati: Autoimmune disease so rasyan first and can compare with vatrakt guduchi choice of drug virechan gives good result

Vd. Neha Dipam Tripathi: SLE compere with Uttan vatrakt  ….And treatment as Vd. manharbhai suggested
