Next topic for discussion:  :Snoring...causes and its management with #Ayurveda
Dr Bhagyashri Panchal: I have learned that pouring 2-3 drops of gogrita at night..helps in snoring.....Snoring is due to vata prakopa...ghee is very effective in vata dosha prakopa
Dr. Dipali Poshtiwala: Cow's ghee pouring, massage of jyotishmati oil on head before sleep, castor oil massage in foot also helps.... Pranayam helps.....If it's chronic then use cinnamon powder as pouring as tikashna nasay process

Shri Minoo parabia: Allergic rhinitis-pratishyay, nasal polyps-nasharsh, asthma, are possible causes. Nasya chikitsa helps
Vd. Kundan Gadhavi: yes nasya helps in snoring
Vd. Manhar Prajapati: But not surity

Vd. Ritaben Nadiad: Allergic rhinitis-pratishyay, nasal polyps-nasharsh, asthma, are possible causes…….Nasya chikitsa helps….I want to get knowledge about this topic
Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: There are several factors which facilitate snoring.
1.The normal aging process leads to the relaxation of the throat muscles, thus resulting in snoring.
2.Anatomical abnormalities of the nose and throat, such as enlarged tonsils or adenoids, nasal polyps, or deviated nasal septum cause exaggerated narrowing of the throat during sleep and thus lead to snoring.
3.Functional abnormalities (e.g. inflammation of the nose and/or throat as may occur during respiratory infection or during allergy season) will result in snoring.
4.Sleep position, such as sleeping on your back, may lead to snoring in some people.
5.Obstructive sleep apnea
Dr. J. T. Contractor : Mostly big belly people male/female found snoring irrespective of sleeping position! Even though if any, tonsils, adenoids, infection, abnormally or big belly!whatever! While awake y isn't snoring! It's only in sleep or fast a sleep exact reason yet to b known
Dr. Dipali Poshtiwala: Hypothyroidism patients start snoring….. bz of disease
Prof. Siddharth Panchal L J Pharmacy: I think deep sleep mode initiate snoring.   However, not seen in all & in fact deep sleep is good for health
Vd. Pankaj Chhayani: Now a days Snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea is considered under Respiratory system…..Snoring is one symptom of sleep apnoea..
Causes of sleep apnoea (snoring) according to modern science..---1) narrow pathway in back of throat   2)obesity   3) lose of muscle tone of pharynx    4) swollen tonsils..  When u wake muscle keep pathway relatively wide open but when u sleep muscle become relax and allowing opening narrow. Air passing through narrow pathway cause vibration of soft palate and this cause snoring..
Symptoms--
1) snoring     2) morning headache    3) chronic day time sleep   4) fatigue   5) irritability   6) impaired concentration  ……….If sleep apnea is untreated it may cause Hypertension, heart disease, irregular heart beat, stroke, DM……..
Management according to modern science:-  1) Life style changes    2) Sleeping on Lt side/ rt side    3) Avoid smoking  4) Avoid substances that make u sleepy e.g. alcohol, sedatives    5) Loosing weight.
Ayurveda approach:  Charaka has described a disease named Adhijihva caused by Kapha...susruta has considered adhijihva under Kantha gata  Roga (throat disease)... So according to Ayurveda Snoring can be seen in persons dominant with Kapha and Vata prakriti...
Ayurveda Approach in management:-  In Kapha prakriti-   1) Do kavala and gandush with anti kapha  drugs e.g. alkali(soda bi carb- swarjika xar) and honey… 2) Give orally trikatu or pippali with honey… 3) Virechanik dhoompana and nasya
In Vata prakriti--- 1) Kavala and gandush with help of Sneha dravya e.g. various oil… 2) Orally give drugs that increase muscle tone like Ashwagandha with ghee...3) Snaihika dhoompana and navana nasya
Pranayama for Snoring:- 1) Ujjayi Pranayam-- tight your throat then take deep and long inspiration as u can do then stop a while then close rt nostril and exhale air through Lt nostril... Do this pranayama 5-10 times a day….. 2) Kapala bhati…. 3) Anuloma viloma...
Dr. Hardikchandra Kalal:  Vastra pattabandhan at head with cover both ears at sleep time…..It is practically most effective and give us quick result……How is it work? Scientifically ….All sound comes from any any hole while air passing through from it holes. And here holes are sinus and respiratory track and air way as nasal to end  respiratory track. When we bind vastra pattabandhan so all sinus (holes) become in like normal position and air way(respiratory track) also work as normal. This is practically successful method. We can use also another Ayurveda treatment as Nasya, Medicines according to cause of snoring.
Dr. Arun Tiwari: I think this is a treatment of Bruxism.
Dr. Hardikchandra Kalal: 1st image not useful in snoring but 2nd image is useful. One thing more one we can vastra pattabandhan with simple cotton cloth and it is give us result…. Practically advise to the patient ankle joint belt as pattabandhan at head to chin by me.

Dr. Arun Tiwari: snoring is a bizarre disease. …But it does not hurt himself snoring gives trouble the others. Often the patient only takes advice, but does not take treatment….It affects mostly wife. …sometime divorce too often comes up. So many times when I becomes very tired Snoring begins in deep sleep. When I see in the morning my wife into another room . so I think best solution is worshipping wife and tune perfect.
Vd. Dhruti Nirav Bhatt: Nasya,Pranayam  gives good result
Chile Dr. Susana Valdes: Snoring could be due sleep apnea, and this happen because tarpaka kapha is blocking prana vata. you have to treat excess of kapha….snoring could be also due sinus problems. You have to treat sinus problem: Cold, infection or allergies

Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: fully agree with Susan, Snoring is with those who have recuurrent cold, sinusitis, obese, bad stomach ( bad digestion, weak digestive fire ), leading to accumulation of phlem. they need pachan, with trikatu, Dashamoolkatutraya, samasharkara, to br consumed with honey. Avoid sleeping in the afternoon., drinking chilled water,  a lot of water as some people follow hydrotherapy blindly, cold drinks, Icecreams, Kulfi. Nasyakarma will help along with rest of the treatment, but it should be the last as we need to do Pachan.
