Next topic for discussion: #Water (liquid) consumption rules according to #Ayurveda…
USA Gary Yuen: Does anyone have info about how to determine much water or liquids one should consume daily? Does any ayurvedic text say anything?
Satyen: Modern science suggests 1.5 ltrs which includes tea, milk, liquid food etc
Vd. Prerak Shah: Minoo sir, I have learned that Discussion is an exchange of knowledge....!! Argument is an exchange of ignorance....!!
Ayurveda is in favour of sambhasha (Sam=same, bhasha=language).
My interpretation of word ' tad-vid sambhasha' (which is used commonly in Ayurveda text book) is communicate / exchange of knowledge / speak as it is', exchange of knowledge as it is.
Satyen: Over consumption will put more load on kidneys.. And will also have psychological effect due to imbalance in jal tatva in body.. I. Presume
USA Gary Yuen: Perhaps volume of liquid varies with dosha and amount of mouvenent or exercise. I'm not even sure if some ayurvedic doctors agree with modern estimates of liquid intake.
Satyen: Yes these are just estimates
Dr. S. K. Rai: Yes Ayurveda firmly believes in the bioidentity of the patients before prescription. That is prakriti
USA Gary Yuen: Yes. Though any more precise information seems hard to find. Maybe according to fatigue? Modern doctors say if you're tired, that could be not enough liquids. Are there any physical symptoms that determine if one is taking too little or too much liquids?
Dr. S. K. Rai: We know our body is abundant in "sneh Sara" that's why before detoxification process, as the age increases there is fall in "sneh".
That is "Kaphaj" at the time of birth, "Pittaj" in the middle age (youth) finally "Vataj", we see there is depletion in "sneh"ansh.
Hence quantity of water is decided according to the age and prakriti rather than diseases.
Dr. Uday H. Hanagal: Trusna (Thirsty) is one of the Prakrutika Vega (Natural Urge) according to the Ayurveda Science, When Person feels Thirsty then only he can drink Water according to his need (depends on Prakruti) & Satisfaction etc.
Dr Premsukh: Trushna is disease also
Dr. Uday H. Hanagal: Adhika Trusna seen in Pittaja dominant Diseases & Pittaja Dominant Prakruti Peoples because of their body needs that much of Water (Jala Mahabhuta).
Dr. S. K. Rai: Further I firmly believe that quantity of fluids should be increased as the day progresses.
Fluid should be maximum between 3pm to 5 pm. This is the transition phase of Pitt to Vaat.
That is consumption of fluids should be enhanced as the day progresses.
Anand Javeri: According to me, if your physical activity is more, you need to consume more water.  Don't know fixed quantity.  Moreover, our urine colour says a lot whether we are properly hydrated or not. If the urine colour is off white or like water, it shows we are over hydrated.  If it is pale yellow, it says we are properly hydrated. If it is dark, it shows we are less hydrated. So, we should always monitor our urine colour.
Dr. Uday H. Hanagal: Swastha Purusha can feel proper thirst but not in diseased person so according to Shastra we can tell them when & how much quantity of Water they can drink according to the Dashavidha Pareeksha Dosha, Dushya, Bala, Kala, Vaya, Prakruti, Agni, Satva, Satmya, Different Avastha of Aahara & Aushadha (Astanga Hrudaya Sutra Sthana).
Vd. Pankaj Chhayani: मुहुँर मुहुँर पिबेद वारि भुरी -भा.प्र.
Water should be drank frequently in less quantity..
Water boiled to one fourth quantity releives pitta, half of its quantity releives vata and boiled till one fourth is pacifies Kapha..- Bhav prakasha
Water boiled till one fourth is known as AROGYAMBU(Healthy water).
If boiled water is drunk at night, it pacifies both kapha and Vata and it relieves indigestion immediately...
Canada Nitin Shah: It is better to sip the water throughout the day. When we feel thirst it is a sign of dehydration at cellular level. Depending on the season and dosha we should consume the water. Those who predominates with Vata, should sip warm water, pitta can consume room temperature to little cold water in summer season and Kapha don't t need the same amount as other needs as they have a tendency to retain the water.  See what is said Muhur Muhur……..Here the key word is sip and not drink. It is said chew the water and drink the food.
Satyen: When many brains contribute... Quality comes out.  Silent members please share your thoughts on water.
Dr. Bhadresh Naik: It's depends on person day to day lifestyle
Water should be taken into small amount and frequently
Before and after meals must be in small amount
Minaral water is debatable issue
Urine colour is best indication of lack of water require ment
Herbal medicine water canbe used
Like south Indian dose
Vd. Binal Jagani: In obesity any role of water consumption quantity and time in daily routine??
Canada Nitin Shah: Yes, agreed. dark coloured urine is a sign of concentration   And sign of dehydration
In obesity I suggest just to sip warm water throughout the day. In the morning 2-3 glasses of warm water with lemon juice or cumin water and throughout the day small amount sipping.
Dr. Bhadresh Naik: In obesity hot water is indication
Canada Nitin Shah: I have noticed here the oriental people drink warm herbal water throughout the day and hardly you see any obese person….Mostly they drink green tea or ginger tea
Dr. Shriniwas Gujjarwar: Normal fluid intake output ratio is :
Intake = output + 500 ml.
3000ml =2500 + 500 ml
Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: Yes. Obese person drinking a lot of water causes weak digestive fire, which in turn causes Dhatwagnimandya ( derranged metabolism) leading to increase in obesity. Instead if obese drinks hot water, it helps to reduce wt. It is a wrong notion that drinking a lot of water helps, it is harmful.
Vd. Nidhi Awasthy: अजीणेृ भेषजं वारी , जीणेृ वारी बल पृदम
भोजने चामृतं वारी भोजनांते विष पृदम
Vd. Pankaj Chhayani: अजीँणस्य किम् औषधम?
- निंद्रा, वारी भेषजम्.
Here hot water should be given..
Vd. Nidhi Awasthy: It's a reference from vaidhyakiya subhashitani sir
Dr. Arvind Shahane: If obese person takes lots of water, can't take more food. Then digest fat
Dr Jaydeep: But its classical reference , I think in bhaishajya ratnavali that drinking lots of normal water before meal in obase person.
Dr. Arvind Shahane: And if drinking lots of normal water after food, increase cough dosh, become obse also
Dr. Pritish Naik: Acc to अष्टांग ह्रदय.....
पिबेत्स्वस्थोऽपि चाल्पशः Sutrasthan 5/१४
Exception is for sharad and grishma rutu
Vd. Sandeep J. Prasad: In trushna hot soil utensil soaked water is advised.
Vd. Pulkit D. Patel: shambhasha parishad buddhi vardhak😊😊
Nigeria Mr. M. Gopikrishna: In order for to control obesity,if like half of stomach is filled with with water than food intake also would be less and will result in weight coming down!..........If water is taken in between meals, then the weight of the person is like medium………If water is being taken after food, more chances of obesity, weightgain
Dr Kusum Pawse: For obesity water 10 min before food. For good digestion in between meals. And shld take half hour after food.water from copper utensil helps for iron absorption.in water retention extra fluids to be taken to wash out toxins.
Dr. Jaya Sambhus:
A H su. 5
Vd. Nidhi Awasthy: Having multiple mini meals are really beneficial in weight loss
Satyen: Nitinbhai please share some info about herbal water
And different herbal water for different rutu
Dr. Vipin Pandey: Diet is the best way to weight loss…Your bf is heavy, Lunch light and in you take salad only in dinner
Nigeria Mr. M. Gopikrishna: I wish to have any other treatment for central obesity….Kindly advice
Dr. Vipin Pandey: And littel but frequent food  in ur routin life
Vd. Pankaj Chhayani: Little but frequent food is harmful..
In ancient time, people used to eat once a day and bath twice a day(before morning and evening pray).
Then people started eat twice a day and bath once a day..
Now trend is changing, people eat more and more time in a day and not taking bath.
 Vd. Pankaj Chhayani:
Dr. Gaurav Makan: For obesity medohar guggulu is used
USA Gary Yuen: Eating once a day is mentioned by Caraka. I will sometime skip a day as a fast for weight loss.
Dr Premsukh: Herbal water षड़गपानीय ?
USA Gary Yuen: One other question of meals. Eating once a day with stomach half full. And then at other times fruit or nuts/seeds. Is that enough?
Vd. Ajay Pithiya: अजीर्णे भेषजं वारी - my personal interpretation - in the condition of Ajirna (indigestion) administer water as drug
Dr Premsukh: 1/4 शेष वारि अजीर्ण मे श्रेष्ठ
Dr. Arvind Shahane: Kokilaksha kashay . Which pharmacy preparing this kashay?  Where available?
Dr Premsukh: Aarya vaidhya shala kottakal
Dr. Caroline Theresa Cutinha: Cap. Pithorin from imis pharmacy can also be given to GB stones 1-0-1 empty stomach.
Dr. Hardikchandra Kalal: Most imp rule:-
- When you feel hungry that time eat
- ek kalbhojan sukhparinamkarnam  ( only one time take a food is better for digestion to absorption of food )
- We can eat also both time with one another rule:-
At morning you feel heaviness in body or abdomen that time we can eat but at evening time you feel heaviness in body or abdomen that time we should not eat.
Germany Helga Fuchs: In overweight: no citrus, no diaryproducts, no sweets, no row salad or vegetable, no banana, no meet, no fish, no bread. Ship 15 minutes hot water each 30 minutes. Vegetables, little rice, juise of beera little. For real Bad overweight start with kichare for minimum 10days. 3/days and hot water. It is also good to clean ama before you start any treatment. I do this many years all klients are successful. Other way for normal health. Fasting with fruits, no banana, ones a week, same day regular, little nuts, and Tea. Masala tea very good 1 Coup, be careful about the fruits near to the milk. 2 hours between is safe. One meal only on this day after sunset. This sharpens agni and make it fresh. For normal habits, Salat only to lunchtime, very little, never only salad. Look of agni how many days in a week he tolerate salad. Salad to much reduce agni, you can see it. Only real Sharp agni is able to have salad dayli. But I have to study klients regular for 50 years to see how body can stay with this habit. I do not have this opportunity now. I guess it works not well, but I have not cleared it now. Thiksagni is also not able for long therms to digest everything. I see this regular, when I clear food habits from Clients with pitta prakruti. She also leads to problems with digestion over the years. About water, it's on prakruti. Warm for vata, mild for pitta and more hot for kapha. Thirst is not much in v and k. Vata is better to drink more. Wather with herbs is for me medicin, and should be given like medicin. Up on prakrti and weather and season in healthy person, and in sick Person with medicin must be compatible. As example gingerwater 2 l dayli in Pitta pracruti is danger, can lead to serious stomach ulcers, in kapha 1 l can help. It is  a need to clear this up. As charaka says. There is no good or bad food at all. How food works depends on state of body. If sign of health is there like good sleep, regular evakuation of waste products, Mala and dhatu are in healty condition, food is ok. If this signs are not given change your Lifestyle. And as we know, food is everything. What we think, what we do and what we get. All must be digested well by body and mind. It is easy, yes ?
Vd. Pankaj Chhayani: Water 1/4 remained after boil is good in indigestion
Dr. Sushant Patil: Lavan ras Kled vardhak he
Slovenia Anoop S. Anand: My opinion is to drink plenty of water between two meals..which will reduce the appetite...but half an hour before and after meals dont drink water..to enable food to digest fully...and to allow for less food intake a little bit of isabgol can also be consumed...and salads with carrot, Onion, corriander leaves
Satyen: Can learned members please throw some light on herb infused water for general health?
Dr. Ghanshyam Varsa: Wheat grass juice is good for general health & disease too
Dr. Chirag C. Chauhan: Wheat grass juice is also best in immunity related disorders. ...
Slovenia Anoop S. Anand: HERB INFUSED WATER  for general health:
Fennel tea(just fennel and water) - is good to improve digestion, cool down the body, good for eyes...
Corriander tea - helps in digestion, detoxifies the body,
Cumin tea - helps digestion, good for arthritis and fever
Ginger tea(ginger with water) - helps in digestion, good for cold, arthritis
Dr. M. Dilawar A. Khan: Keeping water in a copper vessel overnight and drinking it in the morning empty stomach have relived mild constipation
Have quite good experience of it in some patients.
